It is a wonderful little treasure just a few steps from all the stores and the lake. Rooms were nice even though some paint here and there would not hurt. However, it is without a doubt an excellent price value hotel that I can recommend.

Room Tip: Mine was on the second floor facing the train station. Quiet and nice.

Located directly across from the Main Train Station and one block from the main pedestrian zone and shopping center (Lago Center).

Check-in/Front Desk Staff
-Staff at check-in were very efficient and friendly. Most impressed with the reception staff as each and every time we approached the desk, they recognized us and remembered our room number before we ever had to ask for our room key. (Note: the room key is attached to a large, heavy brass object and the hotel asks that you leave your room key at the desk when departing the hotel).

Room
-Comfortable room located on the side of the hotel with a view of the main train station clock . A large bed, a work desk as well as a smaller table with two chairs. A flat screen tv, minibar, in-room safe, hair dryer, shower/bath and assorted bathroom amenities, house slippers. Air conditioning functioned well and quietly.

Other remarks about the room:

-The Guest info booklet in the room translated only the general info and room service into English. All of the other approximate ten pages that listed, things to do/see in the area, history of Konstanz, history of the hotel were only in German. These additional pages need to be updated and also translated in English.

-No Robes in the standard guest rooms.

-Power outlets in the room controlled by a switch near the door, so make sure this switch is on otherwise your electrical devices will not be charged.

-The in-room safe is only big enough for a few wallets or an iPhone. It would not fit an iPad inside.

-No security/peep hole on guest room doors.

-Upon checking into the room the first day, there was what I thought a smell of mold mostly in the bathroom. My friend stated it smelled of sewage. After the second day, this smell was more noticeable after our room was serviced. I notified reception and we did not have any subsequent issues with this smell in our room.

-Rooms facing the side street immediately above the Irish bar can be quite noisy.

Facilities
-Dry sauna, wellness, relax room available daily upon request from 07.00-23.00, with 30 minutes notice. Steam sauna was out of order. Showers in the sauna area with overhead and side faucets, but the side ones did not work properly.

Food/Breakfast
-Breakfast served daily from 06.30-10-30 and priced at € 17 per person. The selection was good from omelet station, hot meats, beans, wings, chicken nuggets, sausages. There was a variety of about 10 breads. Yogurt, Musli, dried cereals, whole and sliced fruits, veggies in olive oil, sliced meats/cheese, cold fish, tea, coffee, sparkling wine and about five juices and water served from bottles.

Note:

-There is a business center computer and printer in a room near the front desk.

-The in-room TV channel guide list is incorrect.

-No free newspapers. They do offer papers for viewing only while dining in the breakfast room.

- No hotel parking, but access to the public parking garage behind the hotel for €10 instead of €15 per day for multiple night stays. For multi-night stays you park in the public garage around the corner from the hotel, but you need to go to the parking office and have the staff switch your parking card to a conference stay card. The parking facility (not associated with the hotel) is an older structure and most parking spaces as well as the ramps are quite narrow, which makes it not very comfortable to use and can easily cause some damage on vehicles (scratches, dents) by yourself or from other motorists.

-Wi-Fi is €5/day is reasonable. Keep in mind that the 24 hour passcode automatically activates five minutes after front desk prints out your access code, not once you actually log-in to set-up your account. The Wi-Fi functioned well the first two days of our stay. The last two days it was terrible. I informed several reception staff members during my last two days, but I did not notice any improvement.

--The monitors in the guest elevators listing events/functions are outdated. The listings need to be updated as most were old and were still listing items since last February Valentine’s day offers and other items that had expired in June. There were only 1 or 2 items that were current.

Compliments
-Again to the reception staff and Mr.’Nico’ who was helpful many times during my one week stay. I don’t know his official title (possibly Houseman) as he was constantly cleaning the general lobby area, restaurant and exterior sidewalk furniture and entrance area. He was always smiling and asking me if I was doing okay and enjoying my stay!

Stayed for 5 nights in June. We'd booked a superior double and the efficient and friendly receptionist was expecting us. We were told we could have 1 free 'welcome' drink each, that did not need to be taken on arrival. As we were staying more than one night we had to pay a local tax, but in exchange were given a voucher for free local bus travel throughout our stay, which we were able to use to get to Insel Mainau. Our 3rd floor room was large and comfortable with a view over the station to the lake. There were loads of drawers and places to hang clothes. It was generally quiet, though we were disturbed by late night revellers in the street on one occasion. The large bed was very comfortable. We were glad of the air-con as there was a heatwave for most of our stay. Whether the room is elegant or in need of updating is a matter of opinion, though I liked it, so I hope the changes proposed for later in the year aren't too drastic. 2 changes I would like to see are a larger room safe and more than 1 key per room. There was a mini-bar and multi-channel TV which had far more channels than the room guide suggested - most of the channel numbers had changed since the guide was produced. Our room had well equipped bathroom with both bath and shower though the shower was of the hand-held type and while it would stay on the hook while in use, it was inclined to fall off with a bang when not in use. Perhaps it's the current sterling exchange rate, but I found €17 for the buffet breakfast a bit expensive. Breakfast was, however, perfectly OK, though the one waiter on duty was hard pressed and didn't notice that things were running out. He was, however, quick to replenish things once his attention had been drawn. As others have mentioned there are numerous bakeries and cafés nearby.

This hotel is perfectly located, just across the road from the station and harbour. Konstanz is very busy but the hotel is calm and quiet. The reception staff were welcoming, efficient and helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable with old style decor and furnishings which, rather than 'needing to be updated', added a lot of charm and elegance. We paid for wi-fi but chose not to pay 17 euros each for breakfast. We would usually select bed and breakfast wherever we stay but really felt that cost was overpriced ( over £30 for breakfast!). This would have put us off staying here for more than one night.

Top location right at the (small) central station. My room was facing away from the station and I was not disturbed by any noise.
The rooms are clean, WiFi reasonably fast and the staff very professional.
The breakfast buffet is highly recommended!
