We had organised a wedding in our family at this location. The hotel is relatively new and thus well maintained. There is surely scope for improvement too. The biggest asset of the hotel is its good food and openness to listen to the guests. There is a gazebo restaurant where live ghazals are played out daily. Children play area, swimming pool, party lawn, etc are all well maintained and lavish. It does get nefarious at night but that is a standard in this area on the highways. The hotel is mainly focused on business conferences but has a great scope for wedding parties as well.

Room Tip: Stay away from the Gazebo side (live music) if you want silence at night. Alternatively for a great...

"Suvi Palace a place among Hills... just on the Mumbai – Ahmadabad Highway (NH-8), where a splendid architecture, Whispering woods, song of birds will fuel your energy, enchant you & carry you through an unforgettable experience." . . . Excerpt from the hotel website.

The website promises an unforgettable experience. They kept that promise - for the wrong reasons!!

The location is excellent, just about an hour's drive from Mumbai but without the noise and bustle of the city. The layout is beautiful, with the space, structure, the pool, the conference halls and the gazebos suggesting a variety of party venues, conference options, as well as relaxed comfort. Unfortunately, all these possibilities were betrayed by unbelievably unprofessional service, and terrible maintenance.

The rooms are poorly furnished with no work table or chair. The upholstery of the sofa in the 'special' room that I was allotted as the workshop faculty, was torn with sponge sticking out. The bed linen and especially the bath towels were dirty with brown stains and smudges. There was a huge brown stain on the quilt which the housekeeping staff generously explained was only because some guest had spilled tea on it.

Some of the banquet staff, the banquet sales person in particular, were responsive and helpful. As for most of the others, they were not able to communicate, seemed poorly trained, and indifferent. Every request had to be repeated several times before it was attended to. While the conference was going on, there was a group of hotel staff shouting around and laughing just outside the door, creating severe disturbance.

Room service was deplorable. To top it all, (and you may find this difficult to believe), when I turned on the shower, the water was spraying on to walls and ceiling ! and very little was actually coming down. Plumbing as a whole was bad, with the cold and hot water balance not working properly either. For those who wish to check out this unique plumbing phenomenon, ask for room 219.

Clearly a case of management missing in action. With a few good people who can provide competent leadership and training to the staff, the hotel has the potential to be a remarkably attractive party and conferencing venue. As of now it is the last place that I would recommend.

As promised their website I am not likely to forget this experience for quite some time. I am sure I don't want to go through this experience again. Suvi Palace goes on my blacklist.
