At £80 bed and breakfast (midweek) this is terrific value.
The bedrooms are lovely and I got free wi-fi, plus a plasma tv with all the freeview channels.
The cooked full English breakfast was fine, although I initially asked for the "haddock" alternative, to be told that they didn't have any?
The duvet was small and flimsy, and the double bed was a small size, but other than that, this was great value.

We spent a very pleasant night at the Beamish Hall Hotel recently whilst visiting Beamish open air museum, it is fantastically located with plenty of parking and within short walking distance of the museum if you wanted to have a drink or 2 in the Victorian pub there with Old peculiar on draught there I think I will be next time.

We booked the room in advance and took advantage of a fixed low rate with a no cancellation clause, unfortunately we found out that this meant quite small rooms, very small rooms actually but you get what you pay for.
Larger rooms are only a few pounds more and although I didn't see one I imagine they would be better value.
That said the hotel was nicely furnished, clean and warm. The breakfast was far better than we expected - in fact it was brilliant, large portions of fresh produce and a large help yoursel buffet. The cofee was a little slow in coming and in the end I helped myself as there only seemed to be one or two members of staff flitting in and out.

Whilst at the museum we asked a local about eating nearby and he warned us against the Stables restaurant at the Hotel as he said portions were small, well I'm glad we ignored his advice as we had one of the best meals in a long time. Great wines, a microbrewery on site serving excellent beers, good service and good value.
We are thinking of taking advantage of the year validity on the Museum ticket just to come and spend another night here and eat in the Stables again.... we'll just pay a little more for a larger room, I know it will be worth it

Having travelled for the past 20 years at least 2 nights per month this is one of the best hotels I have discovered off my own back. Not pretentious, snobbish or up themselves, but could be entitled to be! The rooms are nice and functional with good quality toiletries, quality coffee, biscuits and bottled water (glass bottles). The breakfast choice is exceptionally good and the quality on offer is one of the best I have experienced (try the bottled fresh orange juice from Pago, I think that is the name)!
The service in the Stables can be a bit patchy depending on the youngsters on duty, but the quality and quantity of food is unquestionably good. Another major plus is that it is also a Micro Brewery, with their own quality beers at around £2.25 - £2.50 per pint.
Feels like being on holiday and I keep promising to treat the Mrs to a wee weekend visit.
Only down-side, only if on business, is that the reception for mobile 'phones can be a bit patchy to say the least - make sure you give your other half the hotel telephone number as you will not be able to call/text home from most areas of the hotel.

All in all, one of the best value hotels it has been my pleasure to discover - hope this review does not mean that I have to go back to such places as the Angel View, Barcelo Redworth Hall or Premier Inns, due to unavailabilty.

Well done to the management of this hotel and keep me a room every 4 weeks until further notice.

Beautiful location set in acres of well maintained grounds.
The key here is to try and get the bigger and much better rooms. I have been here several times and seem to get a better room each time. Worth paying a bit more for the upgraded rooms as same quality but lots more space. Stables bar and restaurant is good quality and service and reasonable value. Try the different beers brewed on site.
Bereakfast is a splendid affair in the huge and ornate room with high ceiling and garden views - maked you feel quite special. Cooked breakfasts are obviously done to order and use quality ingredients.

We stayed here for a friend's wedding. The venue was beautiful but our room was not. It was tiny and the walls were all scuffed and marked. It was very basic for the "Country House Hotel Price"

We were not allowed to check a second before 3pm and made to wait until EXACTLY 3pm before we oculd get to our room.

We were promised a view overlooking the grounds or gardens, we had the carpark but hey, at least I could keep an eye on my car! The walls of the room (108) were paper thin and I was kept awake by the man in the NEXT room snoring like a drill (how his wife slept I do not know!) and the sounds of their toilet and shower.

At breakfast we were forgotten about and were left for 15 minutes without tea, coffee toast or an order being taken. We had to catch a member of staff clearing a nearby table to place our order and we still faced a lengthy wait for a breakfast which wasn't that great.

We have stayed at places costing a lot less and received better treatment - felt very much like a number being churned through their books. Not personal at all.

Stayed overnight to visit Beamish open Air Museum. Brilliant location, just a mile away from Museum. Bought tickets through them for museum too. Ate at The Stables, at the hotel. Food and service spot on and reasonably priced. There is also a bird of prey centre on site plus an adventure playground for the children and a cafe. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast lovely and in great surroundings. Room very clean with everything you would expect from a hotel as impressive as this one. From check in to check out everything ran smoothly. Only slight problem could be room not available till 3pm, but didn't bother us as we went straight to the museum and it was gone three when we got back.
