Owner description: Experience amazing sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes as the past comes to life. Beamish is unique - our objects aren't locked away in glass cases, this is hands-on history! Step into the past and explore our 350 acre site, as Beamish tells the story of the people of North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Taste traditional food from a coal-fired range, hop on board a tram or steam train, play schoolyard games together and pop into the Co-op shops. Come back time and time again with your Beamish Unlimited Pass, which allows 12 months free entry to the museum from your visit - including all day time special events!

“Excellent value for money and a fab day out”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Just had a fabulous day out at Beamish and the bonus was that when you pay your entry fee the ticket is then valid for 12 months :-) and we will definitely be visiting again. The fish and chips are the best ever and the ambience of the whole place is second to none. I recommend that everyone goes to Beamish at least once in their lifetime as trust me you would not be disappointed........Cannot wait for our next visit :-)

Really interesting exhibits and friendley staff. The only criticicsm would be that the cafe is really busy with people eating their picnics and not bought food, which means that those who had bought food struggled to get a seat!!!

“There is nothing boring about this museum!”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

I haven't been here since by school days, when we used to come here on school trips. Proper three dimensional museum with real streets, real houses, trams & even a farm. It really is just like stepping back into history. I spent a couple of hours here, but I vow to come back in the sumner & spend a full day here. Great place for all ages.

“great day out for all the family”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

fab day out for all the family. it is about 18£ to get in but bear in mind this ticket lasts u 12 months. so the next time u visit it costs nothing to enter. you get a real feel of traveling back in time. Christmas is fab as the houses and village is all decorated. you can get fish and chips(7£) in the village cooked in beef dripping I believe and to add to the old effect its even wrapped in NEWSPAPER. its not very wheelchair safe as the houses , school , manor house etc were built many many years ago and weren't designed for modern day life. you can easily spend a whole day here and still not cover everything in the museum. I live 10mins away from the museum and go at least 4/5 times a year. great for the kids as there is a farm with animals , school house were they can pay with metal hoop , sweet shop , were u can watch sweets been made then get free taster and if u like them u can buy them. dentist (cant get your teeth checked though) bakers were u can buy bread cakes and biscuits and its good for the older people because they can look back at there history. 99% of the buildings are original's that im aware of which have been demolished and brought to beamish and rebuilt. apart from the farm , manor house and mine which were already on site. please feel free to correct me (beamish museum staff ) if this info is incorrect.
