Owner description: Experience amazing sights, sounds, smells and delicious tastes as the past comes to life. Beamish is unique - our objects aren't locked away in glass cases, this is hands-on history! Step into the past and explore our 350 acre site, as Beamish tells the story of the people of North East England in the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. Taste traditional food from a coal-fired range, hop on board a tram or steam train, play schoolyard games together and pop into the Co-op shops. Come back time and time again with your Beamish Unlimited Pass, which allows 12 months free entry to the museum from your visit - including all day time special events!
Useful Information: Activities for young children, Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities, Food available for purchase, Activities for older children

This has to be one of the very best attractions this country has to offer, nobody can get bored in this place. Exellent for all age groups, not one of the cheapest places but just see what its got to offer and I can assure you will not mind the price.

This is a totally fun day out for all the family - not only fun but also extremely educational for children. Always better on a dry day purely for the amount of walking there is to do there.

Nostalgia writ large.Took me back to my childhood. Well worth a visit, especially if you're over 60. Great for kids though - trams, old buses, old school, roundabouts, merry-go-rounds,

I have visited Beamish open air museum many times and its just as delightful as the first time when I a very small child. Dog are welcome. You can travel around the sight by foot, tram, bus and even horse and carriage. The main parts to visit is the pit villiage, the farm, the town, the manor house and the locomotive line. Bring a picnick if its a nice day and eat it around the grand stand, or you could choose to eat in the cafe. There are several places to pick up a bite along ur way, including ice cream, the sweet shop, or even the new cole fire fish and chip shop! Although its a long wait for the chips! Also! Call into the pub for a nice pint :) such a lovely day out!

We're annual pass holders, been dozens of time, never get bored of it, just allow yourself plenty of time; easily a 4-5 Hr day , more if you really immerse yourself. ENJOY
