Big rooms (Delux A/C) (Room Nos. 304 & 305) opening into large private balcony. Food is tasty. The balconies offer good view of the surroundings and one can enjoy sunrise and sunset while sipping favourite beverage. Room service is available from the restaurant on the ground floor and it is ok. If one wants to just relax in a quiet (yet conveniently located environment) and away from hustle bustle of life, this place won't dishearten him.

Downside:
1. No lift, though the hotel rises upto 4th Floor.
2. Corridors (on the 3rd Floor) were not illuminated. May be a difficulty for elderly persons.
3. No electricity backup. Experienced power cut for about 40 mins when all electrical equipments (including intercom) went off.
5. Poor supporting staff. Got the TV replaced after 4/5 attempts (previous one was not working).
6. Remote of the A/C was not made available after repeated requests.
7. Hotel accepts only cash payment. An ATM booth is available though at a distance of about 2 kilometers.

Having said all that, I must say that this property seems to be the best option available at Araku. Usual wear and tear noticed in similar government run properties were not seen. The inconveniences noticed above may be compromised to some extent. Overall experience with the property is good.

Haritha Mayuri, Resort (APTDC)
I stayed in this Hotel with my wife, and my daughter son in law and two grand daughters for 2 days during 30TH, 31ST March this year. A very peaceful place to stay away from busy city life.
The Hotel is good to stay. Neat & Clean rooms. , Rooms are spacious, well furnished , Bath room &Toilets are clean. In the ground floor.
The front view from our rooms was excellent .
But once you are outside the campus there is nothing but an unclean village.

The lobby is shabby and torn and in a pathetic state.. The sofas and chairs are visibly filthy and worn right through the fabric.. There is lots of signs of water infiltration into the building, with mold and mildew and peeling plaster everywhere - clear signs of poor quality construction and zero maintenance. Every wall in every space was filthy dirty with obvious dirt .

Eentire property is in need of good basic cleaning and painting above all a real routine maintenance schedule prepared and followed strictly. Otherwise it is public money wasted in wrong venture.

I was surprised how the Government has dumped so much money for this hotel. My feeling is genuine, for one reason, that there is nothing much for a tourist to stay and see at araku valley. The resort is nice to stay (limitations apply) for nonveg people and for those who love drinking without disturbance.
It is not a place for pure vegetarian and non drinking families to stay even for two days, as there is nothing special to see staying in araku.

Borra caves is ok but that also can be seen without going to this resort, Train journey From vizag to araku is good enough to alight at borra caves and after seeing borra caves to board the same train on its return. We can save thousands of rupees rent from dumping in Haritha mayuri.

The so called botanical garden is horribly maintained. The govt has forgotten about the sightseeing places to maintain while the APTDC boasts of wonderful places to see in and around araku valley.

There is no lift facility to go to the terrace or higher floors. That is really a big set back to stay with senior citizens here.

Restaurant is ok only for nonveg people. Maintenance is poor, flies were always around. It appears that the staff including sweepers labours waiters, etc are well paid under some special category, but ever body expects tips. However I agree that all staff respond well and are cooperative.

Telecommunication is a bit problem here. Only BSNL and Airtel were working, Reliance was dead. For this reason I had ported my reliance no. to BSNL.

A lavish budget on this resort without much to see around and literally left without maintenance is disheartening.

We enjoyed the train journey from vizag to araku and back, though the Ist class coach was decades old and literally unfit and dirty to travel but for the beautiful sceneries enroute.

I had originally booked two rooms for 5 Days, but on reaching I had cancelled three days and returned early.

Another trouble in this resort I faced is getting refund for cancelled days of rooms booked . I had to make 6phone calls and visit three places to finally get the refund as per rules. There is lot of system difficiencies in booking and refunds if one is not familiar with APTDC functioning.

Reached Araku by train via Visakhapatnam and got ahead to this resort namely Haritha-Mayuri Resort. This is near to station and it look less than 10 minutes to reach by cab. Check-in was very quick and we were given keys to deluxe room on 3rd Floor.

Room was very spacious with big double bed, 2 chairs, TV, AC, Closets etc. It has a big size balcony half covered and half open. It opened to a very beautiful and serene landscape with many mountains and fields on other side. Toilet was also spacious and had both hot and cold water.

There is no lift though...there is a long stairs leading to various rooms on each floor. Keep in mind if you are travelling with aged persons. Restaurant was there and is generally good, but they had very limited options... specially for we being vegetarian and was strict about which utensils they use for cooking etc.

Complimentary breakfast was served for 2 in the morning between 8-10 AM. It had bit of upma, idli and dosa and was good and sufficient.

Nearby this place, there is a tribal museum, coffee shop and other Haritha resort which is as good and had a different flavor.

There was a power outage and we did not had power for about 30 minutes. Not sure if that was a regular phenomenon or rare occurrence.

Overall we had a good stay here. I recommend this resort.

Room Tip: No Lift, so be careful if you are travelling with aged people or very small kids. Rooms on 3rd Fl...

My Wife and me have gone to APTDC Haritha Mayuri Resort to spend our honeymoon this year. I want to jot down some points about stay in Araku valley, may be its useful for the travelers planning to go there.
1. This hotel is at the best location in araku.
2. The rooms are specious and more or less clean.
3. We have booked A.C. executive room but other rooms are also OK I think. Cottages are not very clean (though I does not have gone inside).
4. Food is not good at Araku Valley. It is better not eat bamboo chicken at hotels you can eat bamboo chicken from tribal people at a nearby falls I have forgotten the name, it is more tasty.
5. When you go to araku by train then you can get down at araku valley station which comes 5 mins before main araku station. You have to go up for 20 miters and you will be in front of Araku Mayuri resort but from main araku station its about 15 mins by road.
6. The people in hotel are very fond of taking tips, so beware a bit.
7. Tribal museum: I does not find it interesting.
8. Coffee shop is good but costly.
9. If you have a well maintained garden at your house then do not go to padmapuram garden, it is not worthy of giving a visit.
10. Araku hill resort have swimming pool but does not have any view.

Comparing to a Govt hotel, it wont disappoint you, especially the location. Service needs to be improved. Food is excellent. But donot understand why they push for Bamboo chicken??? Nothing special about it, so you can avoid this costly stuff.
Go for a non-a/c deluxe rooms...it has a terrace attached to it and you will certainly enjoy the view from there.
The rooms have geyser, so not to worry about the hot water. Make advance booking, advisable.

Take a train to Araku valley from Vizaj and Bus while returning. You will njoy the trip.

Overall nice place to stay for all.

Room Tip: Room # 212 to 215

We have visited this place in the 3rd week of December which was week end. We have booked online A/C suite and it was decent and clean but were too much chilled. The maintenance of rooms and food service even staff were good. The food they offered for the price we paid is pretty nice like home food and is reasonable. The Resort is located nearly one km to the Tribal museum and coffee house, there you can find different flavours of coffee and chockees. If you are a non vegetarian you can find Araku special bamboo chicken preparations near tribal museum premises. The Resort has a pool, and take suit prior to reach there if you wanna smim in it. After the lunch hours they conduct some amusement events like tribal dance, Archery and other different fun things. Overall its a nice place in the Araku, comfortable and peace.

Room Tip: "Take if possible A/C Suite for good maintenance and comfort"

APTDC Haritha Mayuri Resort in Araku is really a nice place to stay.. The Staff was good, helpful, caring, and Understanding (A surprise to me as this a Govt owned/run Resort). Unfortunately, the restaurant attached to the resort is good for nothing.. No Items in the menu are available and the items which are available are very expensive when compared to the quality of the food being delivered.....
Overall it was a nice stay..
