“Beautiful scenery, Good accomodations”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2009

We stayed 2 nights at the Vance Creek property. The kitchen was amazingly equipped with all you would need, down to serving spoons. We should have brought more to prepare food ourselves. The only complaint was in the bathroom the hot/cold was reversed. We aren't skiiers, but we were visiting with family. The road up is not for the faint of heart. We went tubing and on the snowshoe adventure - which was amazing. They have snowshoe or carriage rides to a remote cabin for dinner, wish we had done that. It was clear so you got a beautiful vision everytime you went outside. Lots of skiiers & boarders, and they all seemed to enjoy themselves. We would definitely return.

“Don't stay at Hostel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2008

I recently stayed 4 nights at the SameSun Youth Hostel at Silver Star Mountain Resort in British Columbia. This Hostel is filthy.
There is black mold in all the window panes, dirty bathrooms and unhygenic rooms. They only provide one thin polyeser blanket which they do not wash between guests. The walls are thin throughout so you hear people coughing, walking down the halls, partying ect . all hours of the night. The shared rooms only have 2 feet betweeen bunkbeds. The place smells of cooking oils, sweaty ski boots ect. The rooms are very cold. I had to sleep with my down jacket on. My recommendation is to stay anywhere else you can besides this place. They advertise that they have a hot tub but apparently this broke several years ago. They also advertise that they serve a free pancake breakfast which I never saw. (False Advertising)

“Magical resort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2007

I have been to Silver Star with my husband and two children twice before for the Christmas period and we are going again this Christmas. Its a magical resort at this time of year. We have stayed at Grandview and have also rented a private suite. Grandview is very comfortable and has underground parking, which is very useful when the temp outside can be -25 so it means no scraping the car windscreen every morning. However we like to have a private hot tub so we choose to stay in one of the many private suites available in resort. We have only been snowboarding for a few years so we find the mountain facilities fantastic and the Canadians are so helpful and patient with you unlike the resorts in Europe. Its only a 30-40 minute drive down the mountain to Vernon where you will find many restaurants, large super markets, cinema etc. There is a small shop in the resort but this is only suitable for the basics, when we arrive we go down the mountain to the large super market to stock up for the fortnight. In fact my husband says we spent to much time down the mountain shopping in Wall Mart and many other fantastic bargain shops we don't have back home. Silver Star is a special place for us at Christmas and I would highly recommend it, if you have any questions please just ask.

“Pleasantly surprised to get an upgrade”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2007

We chose Silver Star as a convenient stopping off point between Banff and Vancouver. When we finally located the resort, 22 kms above Vernon we had a friendly chat with the receptionist, who decided to upgrade us from a standard room to a suite (sitting room with fire and kitchenette, plus a bedroom with a kingsize bed and a small area off that with bunks). It was off peak(August) and the hotel wasn't full, but we thought $99 per night was extremely good value.

“Corstin House”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2007

I went to Silver Stay mountain resort with a group of 9 other friends. We went to go mountain biking during the Norco VPS fest. Although the mountain was good for riding our accomodations left many things to be desired.

This house should not be allowed to sleep 10 people. There are only three bedrooms and we were left with one couple sleeping on an extremely uncomfortable futon that was placed on the landing at the top of the stairs with absolutely no privacy. The hot tub was only comfortable for about 4 people. All the appliances were very old and run down. None of the dishes had been cleaned before we arrived. We had to wash everything before we could use it. There was not enough room for everone to sit and eat dinner together. The garage was not even big enough for one vehicle. And one of the worst things was when it rained all the big windows in the living room leaked and soaked the carpet in the living room. When we called the front desk, no one would help clean it up.

Despite this some of the other houses on the mountain we saw were really nice. But as for the Corstin House being "Premium" accommodation was completely incorrect and beyond disappointing when we arrived.
