Stayed in a Chilcoot 1 bedroom condo over Christmas break. Very comfortable, well equipped kitchen, spacious living room with cozy fireplace. The bedroom has a queen bed and an alcove with bunk beds for kids. There was a pullout sofa in living room, but we didn't use it. Unit faced north, looking uphill towards Silver Creek lodge - not much of a view, but plenty of light came into bedroom and living area.

The kitchenette is well equipped, includes dishwasher, all kinds of pots, pans, cooking utensils, toaster, microwave, kettle, everything you'd need to cook or bake (only exception: no backing sheet to make those pillsbury cinnamon rolls) There is dining table which seats 6. The bathroom is fine: basic. Ski lockers are indoors on the ground floor, very convenient.

Only problem is twice we blew a fuse when we had the microwave and the kettle on at the same time. Maintenance came to flip the breaker switch, small inconvenience, no problem.

Housekeeping here is not like in a hotel: They just empty the garbage and change towels if needed. They are in and out in less than 5 minutes. One day they didn't come at all so we emptied our own garbage can - not a big deal.

The owners of our condo also equipped it with a few board games, yahtzee, playing cards etc - nice welcoming touch!

There are 2 hot tubs on the roof - several times we were the only ones in a hot tub, but with 2 hot tubs, even when another group is out there, we still got a tub to ourselves. The hot tubs were perfect temperature for kids and for me: Very warm, but not scalding hot - just the way I like it, (but some people may say the hot tub was not burning-hot enough..)

Exceptional storage: plenty of space for everyone's clothes and ski gear: bedroom had 2 dressers with 6 drawers each and 2 rather large night tables with 3 drawers each. That's 18 drawers: more than 4 drawers per person for a family of 4, so everyone has a place to keep organized for quick and easy time getting ready and out the door FAST each morning. 4 big cubbies were by the kids bunks. No fussing around looking for one kids' mitts or PJs or bathing suit.. Also good having a rack for outdoor clothes by the entrance and another closet for indoor clothes in the bedroom.

Location is great: in the village center: Ski in, ski out, very convenient to stop off at your condo for a quick lunch then back on the slopes. Chilcoot is 3-minute walk from Bugaboos, maybe the best bakery in the Okanagan - great breakfast pastries! Short 4-minute walk to the pond and to tube-town for evening action.

The same staff run Vance Creek and Chilcoot - they are always very helpful and friendly (in fact everyone in Silver Star is very friendly ) We come back to Silver Star because the snow is dry, the place is very family-friendly, and both downhill AND cross-country skiing are superb, and even over Christmas, it's not overly crowded. The outdoor skating on the huge pond is fantastic. Silverstar is a family place - mostly families with kids, everyone goes to bed early to hit the slopes early

After a disappointing double booking at another hotel on the hill, our group moved over to Vance Creek for a girls weekend getaway. We checked in early on Friday - and from then until we left Sunday, we were very pleased with the location, the rooms, the staff and the view! We shared three 'apartments' each that had two separate bedrooms that were joined by an open plan kitchen, eating area and living room. The beds were comfortable although I missed having a duvet. Bathrooms were very clean, as was the whole unit. The kitchen was almost as well equipped as our home kitchen - included wineglasses, serving bowls - anything you would need to cook a meal and enjoy it in style. Each bedroom and the living area had a tv and there was a nice gas fireplace in the main living area. The bedrooms had a great view of the complext - and we enjoyed a snowstorm while we were enjoying our weekend away. And although it was off season with limited staff, when we couldn't get our heat to come on - it was a quick phone call and the manager was up to find a solution. Thanks Russell and staff - we are already looking forward to a return weekend in April.

Room Tip: Higher floor has a better view :)

Flew into Kelowna from Calgary after being treated, playing with snow in Fernie, Sunshine, Lake Louise and Kicking Horse. Surely Canada could not have more to offer. HA! The shuttles journey, about an hr, passes frozen lakes, vineyards, orchards covered in snow, through Vernon and finally winding up to the resort of Silver Star. Snowing BIG flakes . Reception very friendly and answered usual questions. Lockers included with my first fight with my most hated object on the planet, a combination lock. Turn left ... turn right.... and right..... and... Get the Idea? How many times I have had to do this again and again. AHHHH. Ski out ski in. yep so easy.Room booked by travel agent who said was very expensive therefore only put me here for 4 nights. Room very comfortable, two queen beds( comfortable) in separate room, lounge kitchenete. Balcony with heaps of snow. Shop with beer and foods almost next door. Rentals good quality. Mountain a BIG YES. Over the back is the Dark Side. Here wonderfull groomed black runs are found. Groomers are winched up the trails. Tree play. Ice slides. Restaurants but miss an adult only bar. Sister field to Big White Two hours away the other side of Kelowna.
Would have liked to have stayed much much longer.

Average 1 bedroom condos. A simple place: no fancy business center, no fitness room, no "heavenly beds", slightly run-down, but a comfortable and functional place to enjoy the outdoors.

We are a family of 4 and stayed in a 1 bedroom unit last winter. It was convenient to have 2 queen beds in the rather large bedroom: although there is no door to the bedroom, people could be playing games/watching TV in the living room, not disturbing anyone who's already asleep in the bedroom. There was a pullout sofa in living room, but it would be ridiculously overcrowded to have 2 more people sleeping in the living room. There is plenty of room to unpack, with several drawers of space per person and a lot of space on 2 clothes racks. No fireplace- so no quick way to dry out those ski mitts. The kitchenette is well equipped, including dishwasher, all kinds of pots, pans, cooking utensils, everything you'd need to cook or bake. There is no dining table, just a short counter with 3 stools- 4 stools would be better, so everyone could eat at the same time, together. The bathroom is basic, small but fine, only enough room for one person at a time. Ski lockers are indoors on the ground floor: convenient.

There is a small hot tub on the roof - one of the days we were there it was out of order, so they gave us a keycard to run over to Chilcoot to use their hot tub. Location is right on the main central pedestrian/skiway in the village center: Ski in, ski out, very convenient to stop off in the condo for lunch. Located above Bugaboos, one of the best bakeries in the Okanagan - great breakfast pastries!

The staff at Vance Creek were all very helpful and friendly (in fact everyone in Silver Star is very friendly ) We keep coming back to Silver Star because the snow is dry, the place is very family-friendly, and both downhill AND cross-country skiing are superb. Our kids actually *prefer* Silver Star to Whistler: less crowded, dry snow, great weather, no long cold windy waits at the lift, no reckless or out of control skiing. This is not a party town, it's a family place. In the evening, there's fabulous outdoor skating on the pond - love it - and tubing, as well as a few organized activities for kids each week (indoor rock-climbing, arts and crafts, Wii, marshmallow roasting at the pond)

Not a bargain, but less expensive than many other places at Silver Star,
