We ate at Kurt's Corner for the first time on our most recent trip to Grand Cayman. We were staying in Bodden Town, so it was not far from our hotel. My husband and I really enjoyed this place! The food is great. We had fried bread, conch fritters, coconut shrimp, fried mahi, and key lime pie. Everything was awesome. We went for a late lunch (2 p.m.) and they were still busy. There was only one server, but it didn't matter to us, since we were in no rush. We will definitely return!

The sides were well prepared red beans and rice, fried plantains, and Central American/Caribbean Slaw/Curtido. I don't know the name of the slaw/curtido on the Caymans, but it's the vinegar preserved cabbage, carrots, and peppers ubiquitous throughout the Caribbean and Central America. But when these are the sides provided in a Caribbean or Central American restaurant it seems the rest of the food is more colloquial (if food can be a language). Every other restaurant where we ate was great, but this one provided some of the more unique flavors for a much more palatable price. Definitely try the fried bread and get a local fish, the fresh catch, and blackened if you like spice. It's really easy to miss if you are driving from the north to the south, but just look for the bar/liquor store. The next door liquor store/bar is also where you'll need to pick up any adult beverages as the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol. It's a great, convenient place to stop after a trip to the QE2 Botanical Gardens.

Kurt's has some of the best food anywhere and my meal was $9CI for fried grouper with rice and beans. The beer and liquor is sold from the bar next door but delivered to your table which is great. We sat down right at dusk and it was like hitting a light switch with the bugs. We got swarmed with mosquitos and tried dousing everyone with Off which did help but several people ate in the car or ate fast to get back to the car. Other than that, this is a 5 star dinner. My recommendation: finish your meal before dusk or go about an hour after dusk when the bugs thin out.

Small restaurant recommended by a local
Does not look like much, a deck but no view behind a liquor store
Food was freshly cooked and there was lots of it but only average in taste especially the sides
Way cheaper than anywhere else we went in the area however

Stopped here for lunch, best meal we had all week. Great conch fritters and conch steak. Quick and friendly service. Not dirt cheap but large portions and great value. Should have gone every day!
