Great service from all staff, food was really good and the atmosphere was what you look for after a day of skiing. It was a bonus that minors were allowed in the tavern and we were served just as attentively as the large party tables. We will definitely be visiting again :-).

“Has become our regular 'haunt'”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

Have dined there on a regular basis while staying at Big White for a month from 24 Dec to 24 Jan '14. The food is delicious...lamb stew with soda bread and toad in the hole are favourites. It's so great to now have a 'pub' on the hill...with great decor and ambience...and Guinness! We will definitely pop in again before we leave next Friday.

“Worth crossing the road for. ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

We were at Big White with family for the holiday season and ventured to the newly established tavern for a quiet lunch.

While a short walk from the main village street, it is an easy trek and we felt like we were stepping into a Pub reminiscent of our trips to the UK.

The menu was extensive and appealing, we had trouble choosing. We finally decided to split a seafood chowder to start then shared the fish and chips and the Cobb salad. It was all freshly prepared and delicious. The standout was the chowder, one of the best we have ever had. We were even thinking if asking for the recipe!

We are already planning our next trip to try the shepherds pie.

Oh, and the service was first class too!

“Bad experience, but it was Christmas Day.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013

Only went here once, so may have been a bad night....but service was super slow with little explanation. Crab bites and fish and chips were very good, salmon tasty but small portion with no sides. Steak special was good sized and tasty. Most items rather pricey.

Thank you for taking the time to give us some valuable feedback. We are truly sorry that you experienced slower than our usually high standard of normal service when you joined us on Christmas Day recently....as you are aware all of our dishes are cooked in house fresh to order and unfortunately this can result in a slightly longer wait time in particular when the restaurant is as busy as it is at Christmas time. However you should certainly have been kept advised by your server of any longer than usual wait time and we will address this as a training issue going forward. Our food is very tasty as you said and we try to keep our prices for different menu items as reasonable as possible. The salmon feature you tried was delicious but lacked a large enough side as you said, and this was rectified as soon as it was brought to management attention in the early afternoon that day. I would be happy to offer you another opportunity to try out our service and quality of food if you are still at Big White. Please email me at jude@globedining.com if you will be at Big White this week. Thanks again for taking the time to review. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
