We stayed for three nights over the August bank holiday weekend and had a brilliant time. We had dinner in the gourmet restaurant on the first night, which I highly recommend. Further, all the staff go out of their way to be helpful. The winery tours they organised were excellent.

This hotel is located close to Alba in the hills of Piedmont and althouh getting there takes a while, the trip is well worth it. We went as a family of four in July. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and Silvio the hotel manager is close to amazing. No porter, he helps out, wine-tasting you say, then he gives a very competent assessment and points you in the right direction. That hands-on approach is what makes this hotel really good.
The rooms are very comfortable, we had one with a view of the hills which was very nice. Breakfast is very good, and although it is true that there are no hot dishes, there is so much other selection that we didn't miss it. As for the restaurants, the Easy restaurant has good food but I would not recommend going there becaue it is in an awkward room without a terrace which in summer is not really convenient. The main restaurant is excellent, perhaps a bit pricey but the quality and creativity of the food are worth it. I am not so up on my PIedmont wines, but the ones we had after consulting with the staff were all very good.
All in all, we found this place to be a great starting point to discover the Piedmont and would definitely come back again

Room Tip: If you have rooms 108 and 109, they have a great view but early in the morning you might hear some c...

This is a fairy new hotel located in the Piedmont wine country. It is about 20 minutes drive from Alba, but the road has quite a few hairpin turns which can be dangerous in the dark. Italian drivers have little patience but don't get pressured into speeding on this road. It is otherwise ver convenient if you are visiting Barolo, Barbaresco, Monforte D'Alba, Castiliogne Falleto etc.
The view from the hotel is wonderful. The area is quiet although there is a soccer field just next to the property. We ate in the gourmet restaurant on our first night. I agree with one of the reviewers that they try too hard. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful, but the cooking is only mediocre. However, the price is not outrageous, and the wine list is quite extensive and very reasonably priced. In fact, I have compared the prices of a few vintages from well-known Piedmont producers with lists from other restaurants in the area and also in Milan, and the prices are most reasonable here. I chose a few older bottles from their internet wine list before arrival, but none of those are available any longer. They should therefore renew their internet wine list. Although there is a recent string of outstanding vintages from the area (2004, 2006, 2007), these are still too young to enjoy now as these wines are very tannic in their youth.
The rooms in this property are nicely appointed and the bed was comfortable. Although there is no hot food available for breakfast (except the cook yourself boiled egg), the breakfast is actually excellent. The quiche is the best I have ever had. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

The service in the hotel is excellent, Silvio was instrumental in making our stay superb. He coordinated our Michelin Star dinners in two restaurants, organized one of our days by arranging Vespa rentals, great adventure to explore those beautiful roads filled with vineyards and also arranged for a wine tasting.
The views from the hotel are beautiful and the service could not be better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

This is a lovely hotel set in beautiful countryside. The rooms are OK, very clean and the price is reasonable. The restaurant is very good although they try too hard to reach the Michelin standard. Some of the flavours just don't work together whilst others are great. They also need a sommelier not just a retired waiter trying to tell me that all wines go with everything.

Room Tip: insist on a balcony

the Hotel is very well located in the heart of Piemonte.
We stayed there for 4 nights with a young baby - the staff at the reception is very friendly and kind to help - rooms are simple but nicely decorated - the swimming pool and spa area very nice !

One negative comment = everything at Villa d'Amelia turns around the restaurant - unfortunately you can not have anything but club sandwiches at the pool, not even a salad.
On top of that, we were struggling to find a place to have dinner on one night, and the lady in charge of the restaurant was not keen to help us at all, she did not even wanted to dress a table for us (not giving any consideration to in house clients)

The lovely hotel is set in the beautiful Piedmonte hills, and the view from the restaurant terrace is outstanding. We had a superior room in the ground floor - everything was fine - and what one would expect from a hotel of this standard. Great to have fresh towels in the evening. The pool area was nice and the service - especially from some of the staff members - was really great. We had a 'gourmet experience' package and after having enjoyed a dinner at a restaurant in Canale - Villa D'Amelia's own restaurant wasn't up to par. Yes, it was nice but no way as exquisite as the other two restaurants that we visited. The terrace and the view however is remarkable. The Barolo from 1998 was wonderful and very reasonably priced! On our last evening we wanted to have a light dinner and went to the Bistro - and we were the only people sitting there - in a place such as this it would have been better if they had told us to go sit in the inner yard or anywhere else for that matter. It is just awful to sit all on your own in this way and also the atmosphere in the bistro - at least if it pretends to be a bistro - is missing. The breakfast is not at all what I would expect from a hotel with a Michelin star - the first day we had to ask for more bread - not that the breakfast is bad - but just a bit to basic and plain. It is great to have the breakfast outside - but there isn't much of a view and that is sad as especially the rolling hills in this area are such a great attraction and beauty. The breakfast room itself is in a basement - but fortunately the sun was shining so we didn't have to sit indoors - i'm not quite sure that would have been a charming way to start a day.
As such the 'gourmet experience package' was very well planned and apart from the three gourmet dinners we also had an interesting visit in a one of the fatastic Barolo wineyards.

Room Tip: If possible a room with a view overlooking the hills
