We had our wedding reception at the Hotel Punta Negra last week and what a fantastic day it was!! Francesco the manager was superb and went out of his way to organise everything we needed. and he and his team at the Punta Negra really did us proud. We had a fabulous 10 course wedding banquet on the terrace overlooking the sea, with the biggest wedding cake I've ever seen in my life!. The hotel surroundings are beautiful, with the pine trees at the back, the pool area, the private beach and the sun terrace all making perfect backdrops for our wedding photos. The staff at the Punta Negra were all so friendly and helpful and all helped to make our wedding day an amazing day that we'll never forget - grazie mille!!!

The Beach is cleen and the 3 swimmingpool are very nice.
Fertilia is just 10 min. walking and from Fertilia is easy go to Alghero by bus the cost is 1 euro one way.

OK, so the hotel is a bit dated but it's kept spotlessly clean. Clean linen and towels every day, towels for the pool / beach all very nice. Great beach and fab views. Like other reviewers I found getting into Alghero a bit of a problem unless you want to fork out for the taxis (20 euro), there are only 2 buses from the hotel daily, not much use, you can however wander across to Fertilia the small village to pick up a local bus to Alghero they run hourly, but be warned these stop at about 10.30pm. The hotel bus only has 8 seats, so you might not be able to book your seat on that, and you do have to book it. Take a torch if you plan to walk back to the hotel from Fertilia.
The quality of the food served in the hotel was definately not the 4 star food I thought I'd be eating. Over cooked fish on the 1st two evenings. On the 3rd I ordered the "suckling pig", I'd watched them cook this for the wedding party the previous day, it looked mouthwateringly delicious so I went for that. I think what I was served was the bits of pig the wedding party didn't want. I was served part of the head, (it was cold,) and bits of charcoaled skin, there was no meat on these, not juicy, totally inedible, could it be I was served left overs, surely not..... That was the worst meal I've ever been served. The waiting staff didn't even question the fact that I'd not eaten any of it, and didn't show much interest in us at all. I also noted that we were served different portions to that served to other nationalities, whether this was because our travel agent had negotiated too low a price I can't say. I just know that this was true even though I did not believe it myself when I was told, absolutley unbelievable. The anti-pasta was OK, better / fresher on some nights than others and some of the meals / courses were nice, but not 4 star, I'm no chef but I serve better food at home.
Not what I was expecting or indeed what I paid for.

We have just had a great holiday at the Punta Negra in Sardinia. The food was fantastic, the staff friendly and welcoming.
The beach and pools were excellent. The room was spotlessly clean with a fabulous sea view. We have already booked for next year and would recommend the Punta Negra to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday on a lovely beach.

we have just returned from a week stay at the Punta Negra. The hotel is about ten minutes drive from the airport and fifteen minutes drive from Alghero. The hotel itself is really nice. It is well worth booking a sea view room as the view is great. There are a couple of pools and a private beach. There was never a shortage of sunloungers during the week, the staff were very helpful. We did not eat in the hotel in the evenings as there are some great restaurants in alghero.

The hotel does run a free mini bus into alghero, however it only goes into alghero twice a day and it only seats 8. The other option is to get a bus from Fertilia into Alghero. This only costs 1 euro and runs every hours. The big downside is that whilst there is only a short walk to the bus stop it is not lit as you apporach the hotel and walking back at night in near on impossible to see where you are going. It would make much more sense for the hotel to light the path.

Other than that it is well worth a visit if you are looking for somewhere to relax and get some peace and quiet- We recommed hiring a car as the roads are a lot less manic than in mainland Italy and there are some nice beaches within a few minutes drive.

We are just back from a nice week in Sardinia staying in Punta Negra. One of the best features of the hotel is its very friendly staff. We travel with two small kids and they have done everything to make our stay pleasant.

The rooms are a bit small however are kept very clean on a daily basis. We stayed on the pine-view side as we expected this to be more quiet (which it was)

Breakfast was average to good. It can be taken outside in the sun, with view over the ocean. We didn't have full board so only had dinner once, which was average. The optional lunch however was nice. For evenings there are plenty of restaurants in Alghero and a nice one around the corner in Fertilia.

Pool / Beach
Very nice pools (large one and a small one) with view over the ocean (pretty cold water though). Beach was very nice, cleaned every day and enough sunbeds/umbrellas, nice sea, in particular for swimming.

Overall a good experience. Hotel might be on the pricier side, however the high level of service, the beach and pools more than make up for this.

This hotel by means to which I do not know has recieved a 4 star rating. It is not.
This is the last hotel we stayed at after travelling from Alghero to Castelsardo back to Alghero in Sardinia. We wanted to end our holiday in a beautiful hotel and payed a little extra over our budget to stay here. I wish we hadn't bothered.

The First room we were given smelled of blocked drains as soon as we walked in and the shelves hadn't been cleaned/dusted in some time.
There was only 1 working light bulb and one bulb exploded as it wasnt fitted correctly.
The mini bar had mold growing inside on the shelves and the bottles of fruit juice had gone moldy too.
The shower drain was blocked.
There also was a huge amount of ants in the room and on the balcony.

Without any fuss BUT NO APOLOGY!!! we were given a new room which was much cleaner but not great.

The restaurant service was done at breakneck speed. As soon as one plate was eaten the next course was immediatly put before us. It all seemed far too rushed.
As for the food itself, it was probably the worst food we had on our trip to Sardinia. There are so many small family run resaurants we went to that were a fraction of the price and 10 times better quality.

The beach was well looked after and the 2 swimming pools were fine but the whole hotel felt outdated. This may have been a four star hotel in the 1960's but today it just doesn't cut it.

Many guests we spoke to found the hotel relaxing but for the price, the hygene standards, the food and the overall service it ruined our last night.

We stayed in two 3+ hotels in Alghero and Castelsardo and they were far superior to this hotel.

A Huge Disappointment!!!
