or even better, if the muddy and dirty Jordan water is anything to go by! I went to Yardenit
as part of a tour of Israel with absolutely no intention of 'duplicating' my infant baptism!
Another poster dubbed it McBaptism, which about sums up the nature of this venue, which has
the size and layout as a small Danish domestic airport!
If you insist on getting baptized in river Jordan there's a quieter and slightly cleaner place further
down the river on the West Bank bank, east of Jericho. And this should even be closer to the real
thing; Yardenit is a replacement site opened after the wars in 1967 and 1973.

The Yardenit site is where you can get baptized in the Jordan river, not so far from where Jesus is believed to have been baptized by John.
While the site tends to over commercialize the baptism ceremony, it's still a serene and beautiful spot on the Jordan river, just next to the sea of Galilee.
Believers tend to get really emotional in this site.
Recommended, either as a believer or as a tourist.

what a great experience-yes the water was cold. but wow! $10 will get you a robe and towel rental. You also get a certificate of baptism. Store was big, didn't buy anything in there. You can buy a dvd of your baptism in the river. I must say- the river sure looked smaller in person.

There is nothing even remotely spiritual about this place, it is all about the holy dollar. You have to pay to go to the toilet (2 shekels) and the prices in the gift shop are 2-3 times the cost of the exact same products in Jerusalem.
