Very clean modern accommodation with everything you would need in a holiday Gite. Lots of hot water and heating if required (which I have not had in other Gites). Owner very accommodating and will do all he can to help.
Easy walk into Matha which is a small quiet village with one resturant (untried) and a takaway Pizza which was ok. There is also a bar on the walk in to Matha and to sit outside with a glass of something was perfect, also the owners understand our Petite grasp of the language. The town itself is quite small with not a great deal going on but there is an excellent weekly market and in addition a monthly market with fresh fish and livestock. Just sit outside the bar and watch it happening.
There are 2 good supermarkets a short drive away from the Gite, one we walked to a couple of times.
St Jean de Angely a lovely town 15 min drive away with a great market each week, inc fish, oysters and crabs. Still in St Jean the lake area with its park and river is perfect for a day out for walking or boating, the Trout can be seen in the river. To Trout fish in season a license for 65 euro will last a year and up to 5 can be taken per day and you do not have to pay extra to fish the rivers and they are stocked each year.
