“A historic comfortable Gem”

We often visit family in the area and have tried several accommodations. Besides a much loved b+b, this is our new favorite! It is worth the small detour from the city. Interesting building, indoor pool was much enjoyed by our sons, rooftop terrace fun even in the snow! The beds were so comfortable we wanted to take them home.......
The best part of all however was our reception from Daniel Bergeron, he made us feel more than welcome, genuinely interested in our stay. Thank you again for the gift of homemade jam! You are an excellent goodwill ambassador for the hotel!

On June 13th our group of 75 women chose Hotel Montfort for our end of year luncheon. We paid $33 per person, not including wine, and expected to have a very special time. Unfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with our experience, it was a disaster! We booked the dining room, a lovely converted chapel and paid a deposit. We were then informed that the meal would be catered rather than cooked in their kitchen. No problem, we thought. The caterer, Paul Piche, is well known locally.

As our members arrived they were given a tour of the hotel, a converted monastery now decorated in a modern boutiques style. So far so good. We assembled our group and sat down for lunch. Then the trouble started. The wine service was slow, two servers and no barman is not enough for 75 people. The choice was very limited. We had ordered a buffet but what we got was really a cafeteria. We lined up and food was served onto our plates from rectangular chafing dishes, it wasn't up to local standards for the price we paid and when compared to the buffets at the Delta and Hotel des Gouverneurs in Trois-Rivieres. Some of the dishes were really substandard, in particular the salmon was dry and "fishy", the couscous was bland and lumpy, the vegetable lasagna was nothing more than overcooked vegetables in white sauce. The chicken, also in sauce, was acceptable. After dessert, a choice of two pastries, coffee and tea was served at the tables. I asked for coffee but honestly couldn't tell if it was tea or coffee. I'm not exaggerating! Everything considered, I would estimate the meal was worth half of what we paid. Even then, it was not acceptable.

The situation became catastrophic when they ran out of salmon before everyone was served. We were shocked because we had asked the hotel several times to make sure there was extra because from experience we know that most of our members prefer salmon. They had assured us again and again they would have enough. At least 10 ladies hadn't been served when this happened. The hotel's caterer, Paul Piche, advised us they would get more from their kitchen within a short delay. However, it was 45 minutes before they returned with "boeuf bourguignon" NOT salmon. Not only was it undercooked and tough, but they had also neglected to keep the chicken warm. By then, all of the ladies were angry and extremely unsatisfied, not only those who hadn't eaten.

We made sure that both the Hotel Montfort and the caterer were aware of the situation and our total dissatisfaction. Some of our members also called on their own volition to complain. No apology or restitution was offered. I don't know if they realize what a lot of business they lost that day. Word of mouth is the best kind of advertising, but in this case it is the worst. I will never recommend this hotel or caterer to anyone and nor will any of our members.

The Disappointment you felt during the passage of your group in our establishment is really regrettable and we are sincerely sorry.

As hotel professionals, we should have insisted to communicate with only one representative of your group, which would have facilitated the communication between our respective organizations and maybe it would have helped us giving you a better experience.


Far from looking for excuses, we want to mention that multiple exchanges took place between the managers of our establishment and several various people of your organization, many requests about the menu and the service of beverages were divergent among the people of your group.

We decided to please most people we spoke with, by agreeing to have 3 choices of menus for your group, which unfortunately was not a success on all the line.

Following the reception of your comments, corrective measures were established for the future. Amongst other things we will limit the number of contact people for the same group, and we will limit the choices of menu as well as clarify the specific needs of our groups with regard to the service of alcohol & beverages.

Today it is in all humility that we recognize that your experience with the hotel Montfort Nicolet at the summer of 2013 was not up to yours, or even our expectations. Once again, we are sincerely sorry. However, we want to reassure you and everyone that giving our guests satisfaction and the best experience possible while staying with us is always our number one goal. And we take pride in the fact that we have many great reviews on our Hotel.

We wanted to stay outside Montreal or QC for a night and came across this fantastic hotel. A converted former monastery, the rooms are modern but not sterile, the staff friendly and everything had a special touch. The rooftop terrace was beautiful with an outdoor hot tub, there was a firepit to hang out around as well. Across the street, on the river, there were canoes and paddle boats! The grounds were beautifully kept and the gift shop is nothing like you typical hotel gift shop--it's a gallery with lovely things from local artists. The breakfast was good--cooked to order eggs, bakery items, cheese, ham, cereal, etc. the staff even showed us their beautiful ballroom because we showed interest in the building!

As you have mentioned, our hotel was modernly decorated to respect the building’s History and Tradition, it gives a nice warmth to our comfortable and cosy rooms. Since it is located in the ancestral Home of the Montfortian Fathers, the hotel indeed and everything about it has its unique charm.

We are thrilled you enjoyed our rooftop terrace, our outdoor hot tub, and that you could spend some relaxing time near our fire pit. We were hoping to find someplace interesting to stay between Montreal and Quebec City. I had some trepidations, but this hotel had some wonderful attributes. The spa and bar on the roof were a delightful way to relax. We did not use the spa downstairs, but it also looked nice and had access to a nice garden. Our room was peaceful, very lovely, but not perfect. We had chosen a single queen bedroom, not a more spacious room, but one window looked out directly to the adjacent brick wall, and the other looked out over the parking lot and garbage containers. And the shower was way too small, even for me (5'1") with a shower head that always seemed to point out and spray the floor if you tried to turn the shower on to warm the water! My much taller husband was completely out of luck. I wish they had realized how awkward the shower was going to be for him; by the time we realized it, it was bedtime and we had no desire to change the room then. The bed also was very hard; I felt a bit as though the seminarians were still sleeping there.

Room Tip: Be very sure you know how big the room is!

Along of the river,on the other side, there it is: this nice renovated place with beautiful and large surroundings which used to be an ancient abbay for friars.
Rooms are nicely done but can be of different sizes from large to small.
Room that I had on the third floor(306) was large,beautiful with large windows , sofa, fridge ,desk& chair,TV and internet for free, a large bathroom with bath & shower .
I was stunned!
At this hotel,you can used two whirlpools,one outside on the top,with a small bar(closed at the time),a gazebo and terrace.
Great to relax, I can assure you.
The other one on the first floor is inside along a pool surrounded by large baywindow.
Great too.
The lobby is cozy and nicely decorated .
You will find a fireplace and a bar(closed at the time).
The restaurant at that time was only serving breakfast but I did look at the menu and it looks very tasty.
Breakfast was good and had enough variety.
Service was excellent everywhere ,especially Daniel at the front desk who can give you a lot of information.
You must see the chapel on the second floor which is now used as a reception room: magnificient!
This hotel has only been opened for a few months and already it is a must in this region.
Give them time to be known,and you will be charmed too.

We were here for only one night for the forfait passion. From the exterior this hotel look good and it's reflecting when you enter, great design ! The lady at the front desk ask us (when we book by phone) to reserve a table at the restaurant because it's full very often (around 45-40 places) They forget to give us the 2 tickets for the dinner when we get in. Be advise, this hotel have a reception room on the 2nd floor. When we arrive we saw the the were a wedding going on..... they party up to 2am.... we where located on the first floor.... horrible night. The lady at the reception didn't suggest or ask if we were ok to be on the first floor. We had a refrigirator problem, it just start to leak . They were no hotel book , were you can find restaurant,whitch services the hotel offer, etc... No hairdryer , no micro wave.

By chance we didn't have any issue with our a/c or bath. The supper was great ,but expensive for what it is. The dinning room can get really crowdy when it's full. The roof spa is good but a bit small , the basement spa and pool are also small and not deep.

The breakfast at our room was ok , no hot stuff, only croissant,chocolatine,cheese,fruits,coffee,juce,yoghurt.

The bed and the room was clean and the front desk were ok . I will suggest this hotel to others if there is not wedding or reception.

Room Tip: Be sure to test everything in the room asap when you arrive

For example, the fact that we have hairdryers in every room, (in the bathroom) and that other rooms were available for you to change to a quieter area of the hotel might have changed the type of experience you had at the Hotel Montfort Nicolet. Please be assured that proper follow-up will be made with our team so that this type of situation does not happen again. It is surely not the type of experience we want for our guests.

A very lovely and comfortable hotel in a very quiet and relaxing setting. Less than 30 minutes from Trois Rivieres, this hotel offers excellent accommodations. We spent 3 nights at this small hotel. Upon arrival we were placed in a room in the basement. The room was very small and vas equipped with a kitchenette. The air conditioning was not working. We called reception and expressed our concern about this room. We were told that our room would be changed. We decided to take some time in their spa and upon return packed up and were given a room on the first floor. This room was bigger, the a/c functioned and had a sofa in an alcove are where you could watch tv.

Both rooms and I assume all rooms in the hotel have 40" LCD tv's. We were able to hook up our portable dvd to the tv on the first floor.

Breakfast is served in a small dining room in the basement. Fresh breads, croissants, cereals and juices are available. They also serve beans, ham and cheeses. The cook will whip up some eggs for you any style if you like,

I believe they also serve lunch and dinner at time but we opted to have our other meals in Trois Rivieres.

The spa is excellent, a pool and hot tub in the basement. it also has a sauna but it was out of order during our stay. There is a hot tub and bar on the rooftop but we opted to use the indoor facilities.

The staff were always very friendly and helpful. Our concerns were always noted. I believe this hotel has been open just under 2 years now and some bugs are being worked out. We were told some rooms had no a/c on our last night, although our was working and that the elevator was out of order. This hotel uses solar energy on most part so that could have been the issue.

My wife and I were very happy with our stay and plan to return there again this Fall during the arrival of the snowbirds that are going to be migrating South for the winter.
