Not sure why anybody would vote for "terrible" here? The compound must have been the largest surf camp I've ever been to. The yoga lodge alone is as big as other camps. :-)

Food was great, very healthy, diverse meal options, good variety. Rooms were simple but clean (getting cleaned every day).

The surf however was only ok. There was not really a big swell during my time at Rise up - so we were very tide-dependent and could only surf one session each day. That also meant that we could not avoid the sun during noon (which is pretty scorching). At the same time, at least the water was very warm. Surf instructors were excellent.

Who should go? Beginners looking for an easy start. Surfers less focussed on surf but more on a good vibe in a camp. Can't tell if really good surfers could enjoy - the Boom was not working. From what I saw, they might have been disappointed without swell conditions.

This is about as all-inclusive as a surf camp gets. Transportation, food and drinks, yoga and surfing without any need to pay for anything else except tips for the staff. Chinandega is relatively remote and there aren’t a lot of shopping options if that’s your thing the weekly Leon tour or staying there before or after is your best bet. No internet at the resort but it’s very cheap to buy at the airport directly from the Claro or Movistar dealer. Coverage at the resort is good but ask the owners which one to use as this can change - it’s very cheap 8 days and 1G cost $10usd - much better than roaming. The surf is great and totally uncrowned. The beginner lessons are excellent and way better than any others I have seen to get you started surfing with a very fun and supportive atmosphere. While the general age is 25+/- 5 years there are people in their 50-60s as well

Simply wow. I came to Rise Up for 10 days to improve my surfing and I went home a completely different surfer. The instruction is unparalleled. It's not just that the coaches are good in the water, they also do video analysis, 'surf theory' classes - which were beyond helpful- and even paddling and duck diving lessons. The staff exudes positivity and warmth and it was just a joy being there. Rise up is great if you want to be independent and do your own thing, and also if you want to be welcomed into group activities like boat trips, horseback riding and sunsets at the point. The vibe is so relaxed and comfortable. ALSO - i have to mention the Yoga. I've been practicing yoga for 12 years and never expect much from vacation classes but Georgie was one of the best yoga instructors I've had the pleasure of working with. Highly recommend doing the daily yoga class while you're there as it's excellent for all levels and the perfect counterbalance to surfing.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay at Rise Up in December. From start to finish I loved the experience and can't say enough good things about the Rise Up "family" who go above and beyond to take care of every detail. I agree with all the other reviewers about the beauty and peacefulness of the setting, the fresh healthy meals, great excursions, and wonderful yoga classes in a beautiful outdoor studio next to the ocean. Surfers of all levels can have a great experience and there are many beaches and breaks within a short distance. Even as a complete beginner I was able to enjoy daily lessons and excellent instruction that allowed to me to make progress in a short period of time.
The energy, enthusiasm and good humor of the instructors and staff creates a friendly and fun atmosphere. I also loved the family style meals on the patio which allow guests and staff to get to know each other over the course of the week.
Hoping to return very soon!

Rise Up is amazing! I just got back from a week of surf and yoga. The accommodations are great and surrounded by amazing scenery. The meals were amazing and they catered to any dietary issues without hesitation. The surf instructors were knowledgeable and helpful, but also taught us to be more independent. Everything was really easy and hassle-free, and the staff were always ready to help make the trip even better.
