“A wonderful property run by people who understand what it takes to make this a real 'home from home'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

No matter what pictures are used, none would do this property the true justice that it deserves.

In the first instance for us the location is ideal, not too far off the main road and readily accessible but with no passing traffic to worry about. The hillside position generally offers a nice cooling breeze. There are plenty of shaded areas to sit, if required, but you can enjoy basking in the sun easily if that is your preference. The pool was always warm (mid summer) but be aware that it is deep even in the shallow end. This is very nice for competent swimmers as we have but people with 'non swimmers'/youngsters should be aware. Saying that, the pool area is fenced and gated.
To access the Villa you do need to go up a flight of stairs.
Inside the villa is very tastefully decorated, wonderfully clean and a lovely environment to stay. We stayed with our two children (one a teenager) who like to get up late and my in-laws who like to get up very early. The fact that each bedroom has its own bathroom and by positioning the in-laws next to the kitchen side of the villa, meant that everyone was happy and each could do their own thing at any time of day- without disturbing the others

The fact that we had English TV meant the essentials such as Eastenders and Coronation Street could still be watched, which also helped to keep everyone happy (he says half jokingly). The added bonus was the free wifi which anyone with a teenager will know, is an essential part of today's life. Actually, it was also very useful for getting around as we were able to get aa route maps, what's on guides, on-line savings (Sea world) etc. whilst we were there.

If you head into the mountains then you are very close to the small convenient stores and the square offers a nice area for a mid-morning coffee or there is a very good 24 hour supermarket in Altea - and the shopping prices are very competitive to those in the UK. A good bottle of wine will start at around £1:10 – which pleased the in-laws?

Altea is a lovely resort. Take your crabbing lines as the harbour and the promenade area offer good spoils (I spent hours crabbing with my youngest daughter). There are boat trips from Altea that can be taken (check the harbour area) and plenty of restaurants to try - and having free parking is a very refreshing change. The old part of Altea up in the village near the church is a charming square with plenty of restaurants and 'arty' shops but I would suggest getting there early evening if you want to find a parking spot. You have the usual market stalls, hair braiders etc.

The Altea market was not overly oppressive and there was plenty to buy but be aware as we did see one woman who said she’d had her purse stolen – however, I didn’t feel in the least bit intimidated and it wasn’t overly busy. The market is held on a Tuesday.

Our favourite find, however, was Calp or Calpe which is about 20KM from the Villa and just up the coast. Here you have lovely sandy beaches, good shops and plenty to do. This area was predominantly a Spanish holiday area and so doesn’t suffer all the Karaoke Bars, British Bulldog pubs and other tat that you would associate with the likes of Benidorm that we visited twice just for the experience. We didn't stay long! In the opposite direction and into the mountains, Polop is worth a visit and there are some lovely mountain views.

A wonderful stay and many thanks to Victor and his partner for being such good hosts and making this a very relaxing holiday.
