“Wonderful dinner and friendly staff”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

Took my wife and 2 children for dinner. Given choice of room to eat in as we arrived just when dinner service was starting. The food arrived promptly, was piping hot and delicious.
Very atmospheric establishment with great food and accommodating staff.
Well worth a visit.

“Lucky find!”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We were looking for an intimate inn or pub where we could have lunch as we drove up the coast of Fife. We wanted to eat before we got to the touristy St. Andrews and had just about given up when we saw The Barn (in Kingsbarns, between St. Andrews and Crail - it didn't even show on our map). It was perfect in every way, beginning with ample parking in their own lot (and not having to find street parking in a busy town). It was a cold and rainy day in mid-September, and there was a gorgeous coal fire going in the lounge. We order pints of real ale from the bar and sat at a cozy table in club chairs in the lounge between the window and the fire. It couldn't have been a better setting.

Our server, John, couldn't have been more accommodating. We wanted to share a starter and an entree, and he had no problem with that, even providing an extra plate. The soup of the day, tomato and cracked pepper, was the best we had had in Scotland. Sounds so simple, but it really was extraordinary. The chef knows what he's doing. And the fish and chips, local haddock, was excellent. Very filling.

We couldn't have planned a better stop. So glad we happened upon this place. Go out of your way to go there, especially in the cool weather. It's worth it!
