“Brilliant party atmosphere at the end of a great skiing day!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

La Folie Douce is a chalet restaurant-bar located almost at the bottom of one of the slopes next to 2 chair lifts, just before reaching Val Thorens.

The chalet produces a DJ + singer + sax players everyday from 2-4pm (or 4.30pm – or so) and it is an absolutely brilliant place to end up a great skiing day.

We didn’t have the opportunity of getting a drink there as the queues were too long (this proves the popularity of the place!) and we just stopped for about 10mn everyday to enjoy the music and the happy crowds.

Most people we spoke to though said that the drinks and food were quite expensive and the quality quite ordinary, but I can’t comment on this because, as I wrote, we didn’t have a chance of having any there.

I can just comment on the ambiance, it was really top, large crowds of students dancing under the balcony where the DJ and his team were.

The Folie Douce is obviously targeting students but it is brilliant fun for anyone who loves music and dancing!

“Great fun bar and cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

We visit Meribel every year and always make the trek over the mountains to Val Thorens to visit Folie Douce. It takes about an hour or so to get their give or take getting lost on the runs but it is great fun, pretty standard chips, baguettes etc but the real fun starts with the DJ, singer and sax players - Ibiza in the snow. It gets really busy and is quiet a young crowd but being an "older" skier I still don't feel out of place. Only downside for us is we have to leave about 3.30 in order to catch all our lifts and make it back to Meribel without having to take a cab! I hear there is a Folie opening in Meribel this season?? Think we will still go to VT too though. Definitely one to seek out.

Worst cup of hot chocolate I have ever had. Over-priced, self-inflated opinion of itself. Total waste of money & time.

“Great après ski”

Great après ski! Party central in Val Thorens.
Lovely hot chocolate and chips during the day.
The highlight of my trip behind the power snow & off piste skiing.
