Stayed in this chalet with a group of friends so we had the whole place to ourselves - definitely the way to do it.
The rooms were all ensuite and with great facilities. Ours haf access directly onto the balcony with the hot tub which has great views over the mountains.
The food was excellent all week - especially the cakes! And the three girls looked after us as if we were their personal guests. The host in particular went out of her way to make sure my dietary requirements were met and was always chatty and helpful with questions about the resort and ski hire. The staff in this chalet definitely made the holiday special, but we would still return to this chalet for the facilities alone.

I don't know where Wendy W. stayed but it doesn't sound like the same place ! Chalet Aigle Royal had lovely refurbished large rooms, with lashings of hot water all the time. Get room 2 or 3, they are on the same level as the tub and sauna/steam room. Lots of cupboard space, who needs doors on cupboards !? Room too hot, turn the radiator down, too cold turn it up, simples ! Food was very good on the whole and the chalet girls were attentive. There was a fully operable hot tub that was kept maintained daily, ( I know because I have one myself) which had great views of the mountain and a steam room and sauna with showers that all worked beautifully. TV worked fine (admittedly one of the guests tuned it to watch the Rugby but hey who wants to watch TV on a ski holiday !) Free Wi Fi worked all the time (well it did on my Samsung phone !) Access to the slopes if you didn't want to walk with your skis was admittedly up a 30m slope but if you are fit enough to ski this wouldn't be a problem. The access got easier the more people walked up it. Access back was easy straight off the Chaudannes run if you are a reasonable skier, but would be tricky for novices. There was a bit of noise on a couple of nights when some of the chalet girls came back after a night partying (they live in the Chalet) but I suppose I could overlook that. Conclusion, great resort, (get the Espace Killy liftpass so you can do the whole area inc Val D'Isere), great chalet, great snow, very good ski company. We are going back in 2015 and I've been skiing for 30 years so I've seen a few places !

Room Tip: As above, rooms 2&3 on level with leisure facilities with direct access to hot tub on balcony. Room 2 best views over Tignes.

Christmas Week 2012. This Chalet is definitely not 5 star and is barely 3 star. The hot-tub was inoperable, as was one of the boilers for the hot water, so hot showers/baths were rationed. Food was erratic including running out of bread etc for breakfast. In France? Satellite TV and Wi-Fi were only working when some of the guests fixed it. Small hot rooms with open cupboards. Although it is next to the piste access to or from is very sketchy. It took hours of negotiating with resort managers on the eve of the journey home to arrange for an injured guest to be transported to the coach meet - and the guests had to clear snow to allow this. Staff at the chalet were extremely pleasant, inexperienced and not supported at all by those from Ski Total supervising them. Conclusion: great resort, great snow, terrible Ski Company.

Room Tip: Noise from hot-tub heater at back, windows left open at night as room too hot so choose a room at the front.
