Only stayed for 1 night but contact from 1st phonecall to check-out was both professional and exceptionally friendly. We would definately return if they have rooms available!!!

Restaurant food was simply presented but of an excellent standard!

We stayed at Hotel Vanoise for a week in April (family of 4 with 2 teenagers).
The location of the hotel is excellent, with the Tufs chairlift right outside and many other lifts just an easy 2-minute ski away. The hotel provides complimentary ski lockers and drying areas for boots etc. There are shops, bars, restaurants, ski schools and ski rental shops all very nearby. Despite this great location we were not disturbed at all by noise and our rooms were quiet.

Our rooms were warm, clean and comfortable with balconies and great views. As expected in a 2-star hotel, the rooms are fairly small and basic but this was not a problem at all for us.

The best feature of this hotel is the outstanding service provided by Sebastian, Caroline, Paul and the rest of the team.
We booked independently. Right from our very first enquiry, through the booking process and then to our arrival and throughout our stay they all went out of their way to be the most charming, friendly, efficient, welcoming and hospitable hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. We felt very welcome and very well-looked-after throughout our stay.

We asked for advice re booking of taxi transfers, ski rental and lessons and Vanoise helped us with good recommendations and discounted rates too (Yves Taxi transfer and SkiOne for rental/lessons...both very good)

We stayed Half-Board and the food was very good simple unpretentious home cooking. Every evening: homemade soup, salad, a different main dish, cheeseboard, dessert. Always very tasty. There was not one poor meal, all of us were more than happy with the food.

One member of our group suffered a ski accident on one day and ended up in the local medical centre for a short while. This was a worrying time for us but once again the Vanoise staff were brilliant: helpful, concerned, caring and supportive, going out of their way to pass on messages, to liaise with medical centre, ski instructors etc and to help us when we most needed it.

We have stayed at many larger, posher hotels in the past but can honestly say that the Vanoise experience is right up there due to the first-class service and attitude of the staff who always "go the extra mile".

Highly recommended. If we return to Tignes we would not want to stay anywhere else.

We've just returned from a week at Hotel Vanoise, where Sebastian, Caroline and Paul and their fantastic team looked after us as if we were part of their family. Nothing was too much trouble...ever...definitely 5* care all the way...which was a refreshing change from all those faceless hotels we've stayed in over the years.

On top of that good food, good wine, great bar for apres ski, plenty of hot water to ease those aching limbs plus being located less than 30 yards to Tuff Chair lift...what more could any skier ask for?

We will be back :)

Room Tip: Our Superior room had great full size bath and lovely balcony overlooking slopes

When we go to the mountain we go to ski. What we want in accommodations is clean, warm, comfortable, convenient with good food. Hotel Vanoise gets a perfect score on all these. Yes, it's only a 2 star rated hotel, but we not there for a luxury hotel stay, we are there to ski, and Hotel Vanoise deserves it's 2 stars and maybe slightly more. The room was clean and comfortable with a view of the slopes. I would prefer a softer bad, but I was okay with what we had. The half-board may not be cordon bleu, it was excellent basic faire; fresh, simple and delicious and exactly what is needed to get the day started and recharge after a day on the pistes. We loved the Raclette evening when Caroline served up the melted cheese. There was not a bad meal all week. Being less than 30 yards from the ski lift can't be beaten. The location is perfect. But the absolute best aspect of Hotel Vanosie is that Paul, Caroline and Sebastien are the most gracious, friendly, helpful hosts one could ever wish for. We arrived terribly late having got lost and got stuck en route by car from Paris. Paul greeted us at our car and brought our luggage in and then volunteered to take the car to the parking structure for us so we could settle in and have dinner which they had held back for us. By the time we sat down in the dining room it was after 10PM and Sebastien served us four courses and our selection of red wine. We couldn't have felt more welcomed.

Room Tip: We went for the Superior Room with en suite bath. Can't comment on any others.

Only visited this hotel when visiting friends who were staying there but immediately loved the atomosphere. Friendly, comfortable and right on the slopes opposite the ski school meeting place and a number of restaurants. Great food, accommodating even to my particular likes and strange dietary requirements. Brilliant comfortable bar with excellent accommodating and likeable hosts. Wish we had been staying here!! Maybe next time....

At first I was dubious about booking a 2 star hotel, when we usually book 3/4 star hotels when going skiing, however after doing our research we took the plunge, having read good reviews.

I am glad we did. The hotel offered everything you need for a holiday, i.e. friendly staff, great food and a clean room. Yes the hotel has some wear and tear (such as the cracked concrete on the front steps mentioned in one other review), but this just adds to the rustic charm. We also liked the nice touches, such as the free (very tasty) cake in the bar at 4pm. Further more this hotel has the perfect location, with genuine ski in, ski out.

We also appreciated how helpful the hotel owners were when some of our friends staying in the Alpina hotel, needed feeding (due to the fact that the food at their hotel was so awful they walked out during the meal) and turned up at the Vanoise just before dinner.

The hotel is under new enthusiastic and friendly ownership having been bought by the previous manager of three years and two relatives. Having spoke to them over a lovely beer in the bar they have some excellent plans for developing the hotel over the next few years. Certainly one to watch and visit. In fact it was so nice I am tempted not to tell anyone, so that we can have it all to our self!

Had a great week. Very friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble. Asked for mayonnaise & chef made it fresh. 5* service & will certainly use it again. Hotel right next to piste & ski straight from hotel steps.
