Certificate of Excellence

We've just stayed here for a long weekend of skiing. The staff were very helpful and friendly and everything went very well. We ate breakfast in the hotel, which was simple and adequate. We ate one evening meal which was excellent - the cheese board is highly recommended! The hotel is about 100m from the Vercland/Saix lift which goes to Samoens 1600 where skis and boots can be hired. There's a lift pass office there as well. The hotel was nice and quiet at night and we both got a good night's sleep. The hotel is in Vercland rather than Samoens itself. It took us about 30 mins to walk into Samoens in the evening - take a torch - there's no footpath and although the road is not that busy - there were quite a few cars. We got a taxi back as we didn't fancy the walk back up the hill!

Visited for a weeks skiing in half term on a half-board basis. Good location near the gondola, but not a lot to do locally unless you drive into Samons itself (5/10 mims away). Pretty little hotel. The rooms good. resonable well designed, but rather dated - clean. Food good (albeit simple french household food). Good value and reasonable priced wine list etc. Unfortunately I had a lot of problems getting through to the owners that my children would prefer to eat what we ate and avoid processed foods, despite speaking average / good French she would not listen and kept giving it to them for a few nights. Which was a problem as my kids refused point blank to eat the French equivalent of Turkey nuggets - and I ended up eating them. Service was sullen even by French standards. If the service could be sorted out this hotel could be pretty good.

For what we were looking for in a hotel could not fault it. We arrived just in time for dinner and were looking to stay just 1 night to try and get some more skiing in. So - cannot give a full rundown of the services etc. but we enjoyed a good meal (raclette) and good value wine. Slept well in a newly renovated room with good TV, bathroom, comfy beds etc. Breakfast was fine - as you would expect in a standard French hotel. It was all clean, worked well and the service was perfectly good... The location is superb and just adjacent to the old ski lift to access Samoens 1600 and the Grand Massif. Perfect to walk to the lift and ski back at the end of the day...
