What can we say about this hotel other than it was excellent value for money and everything that we needed for our holiday. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating (even getting a breakfast serving in before our 05:15AM airport transfer on the last day). The hotel itself is situated close to the Diable lift but also has a bus stop for the free village shuttle bus literally 30 seconds walk away. Further to this there is a Spar convenience store and 3 or 4 excellent restaurants just on the door step. Overall a fantastic facility and one that I would be happy to recommend to anyone looking to do L2A on a modest budget.

Room Tip: If you can then avoid the rooms next to the stairs. The noise wasn't unbearable but it was defin...

Spent the last week in March at Hotel Serre Palas (booked through Neilson) and really enjoyed our stay at this small, simple but very pleasant hotel. We have 3 older teenage children/young adults who shared a room which was adequate enough but we paid slightly more for a room with a balcony (Room 20) which was like a small apartment with a separate twin room (used as a dressing room/hot room) and a double room with a balcony. The hotel was simple but provided everything we needed including a lovely breakfast with fresh croissants and french bread, fruit, ham and cheese - in fact the hotel seemed to smell constantly of freshly baked croissants! The bathroom lacked amenities such as shower gel so you need to bring shampoo etc and the towels were a little small and worn but adequate and changed daily. We kept our meals in the resort quite simple but had a lovely meal in Le Cellier (Raclette) which had a nice mountain/french atmosphere, we had a pizza at L' Etable which was a small cozy restaurant and had Tex/Mex in Smithys (huge burger meals). We hired our ski equipement from the ski shop at Hotel Albourg - the Neilson Hotel (5 min walk) and as they let you keep the skis/boots there we used this as a base to ski from using the button lift to either ski along to the diable or the white eggs. They provided such an efficient and friendly service that we didn't bother storing the equipment at the hotel even though the Diable was only a few minutes walk away and very convenient. From the top of the Diable you can ski down to La Crete and ski across to the other chairs to access the rest of the mountain. We really liked the relaxed feel of the hotel, the helpful staff and the location which was quieter and prettier than further along into the resort but still very convenient being near to the restaurants, bars and a small supermarket for room snacks/drinks. It is worth taking a walk behind the hotel to see how near you are to the edge of the cliff! Really enjoyed the lay back feel of L2A and Hotel Serre Palas.

Room Tip: Definitely worth paying more for a room with a balcony. Room 20 was huge

Serre Palas hotel - what a little gem of a hotel. It's just outside of the main drag of Deux Alpes town - which equals a very quiet nights sleep! It is a 5 minute walk to the nearest chair lift (Diable) a 6 seater which the reps call the sofa - great comfy way to get up the slopes! The hotel seems to be run by a dear lady who speaks some english and is very pleasant - reminds you a bit of a friends aging lovely mum!

Our room was superb. I think we were lucky enough to be given a family room. We had a huge bed plus there was another bedroom with two single beds in it. Three built in wardrobes, a three dressing tables (one with drawers) another chest of drawers - so tons of storage space. Nice big bathroom with a bath (bliss after a day on the slopes) an in bath shower (which was very hot and powerful, again great for the aching muscles!) a big sink and a bidet. A heated towel rail was most welcome too. There was a seperate toilet - always a bonus in my eyes! There was a flat screen tv but all channels in french only. There was no tea of coffee facilities in the room - but the landlady was more than happy to prepare a tray of coffee and bring it to the room (chargeable of course). The room had huge sliding doors out onto the terrace/balcony. We had a couple of chairs to sit on. Our room over looked the national park which was just stunning. Incredible peaceful too. Our room backed onto ground level (even though we went up two flights of stairs to get to it!) So there were some people that walked close by with their dogs ect... but this didn't bother us as the locals seem very friendly and when we were soaking up the evening sun on the terrace with a beer there was plenty or bonsoirs and bon appitetes!!

The curtains were black out curtains which along with the peaceful location aided a perfect nights sleep.

Breakfast was a basic continental affair. As you sat at a table the landlady brought out orange juice and a basket with huge croissants and a small baggette. There was a choice of three cereals, cheese, ham, jams ect.... tea and coffee also. The dining area was gorgeous. A roaring fire surrounded with lots of very cute french things! Lots of hearts and, wood and checked table clothes - little knick knacks all around. Really lovely. Just by the main door outside there was a good sized ski/snowboard locker room - which you were given a huge padlock and a key for. You are also given a code for the front door because the hotel isn't staffed at night.

There is not lift in this hotel - I think it has maybe 3 or 4 floors - just be aware of this when packing - cuz you have to drag your cases up the stairs!

The rooms were freshen daily - the sheets and towels were not changed daily, just folded etc.. this is fine as you don't change your sheets daily at home do you!! The two chamber maids we met were very pleasant - every morning they would say hello and smiled. This hotel has a lovely homely feel about it. It has all your basic needs and its very clean and warm!

there is a Spar mini supermarket which is a minutes walk from the hotel which is very handy for all the beer and munchies you want to take back to you room!. It is a very short walk into the main street for all your eating and shopping needs. Although there is a stunning looking restaurant right next to the hotel. We didn't eat here however.

It is definitely worth taking a walk through the park at the back of the hotel - the views are quite stunning! You end up looking down on another village!!!

I would definitely stay here again. Great hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a family room or a room with a bath.

I went to Les Deux Alpes with my girlfriend and another couple looking for a reasonably priced ski holiday. We were initially drawn in by the 2 for 1 lift pass deal that was on then found this gem of a hotel which matched our criteria for all our needs. The features were basic but we didn't go there to sit in our rooms all day and there were plenty of great places to eat and go for drinks very close by. We had a great continental breakfast each day (even at 4:30am on our departure day) with all fresh produce from the local boulangerie. All the staff in the hotel were extremely friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. If you do decide to go here and are looking for top quality french cuisine I would greatly recommend La Cellier which is about 50m from Serrre Palas and was one of the highlights of our trip.

We booked a cheap january ski trip and so we weren't expecting luxury however, Hotel Serre Palas is a real gem!!It is close to the Diable lift and to bus stops for skiers - its well within board boots walking distance to the main gondola. The hotel is small, family run and very friendly. The decor is homely and very clean and the showers are fab - strong with loads of hot water. Breakfasts were more than enough and good restaurants were nearby. We had a double en-suite room but family rooms are available and we would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Good central location and perfect for short overnight stay. Great value for money. Facilities and rooms are basic but if you are out skiing or hiking all day, eat in the many bars and restaurants which are within walking distance, all you need is a good bed, warm clean room & hot shower to come home too... And that's exactly what this hotel offers.

We booked this hotel as a package through a Neilson ski holiday. On arrival the place looked okay and had everything you needed including a ski room with lockers.
The breakfast was fairly basic and was half served, half buffet style, limited fruit available!
The reception staff were a little abrupt at first but warmed up as the week went on, they were happy to meet all our requests and were pleasant.
The bedroom had a nice big bed, unfortunately with no duvet just sheets and blankets which I don't really like. It had a bath with a shower over, the windows had shutters which meant well for a blackout sleep to get ready for the next day on the slopes.
The room had a safe and plenty of storage.
The hotel bar seemed to be closed when we came in and out and was very small but there is lots in the town so it didn't matter.
A negative was that the ways were very thin and the noise traveled.Positive was that it was very close to the lifts and centre of town.
