Rather hysterical reviews here. Having read the more negative comments we were wondering what to expect, but suffice it to say the more level-headed commenters were (thankfully) correct.

Sure, it's a bit of a walk up and down the steps, but if you're on a skiing holiday you should be fit - it's a decent warm up and down for the leg muscles.

I understand some weeks are worse for noise - the rep mentioned some rowdiness around the New Year - but then, that's the New Year. The only real complaint was that our apartment was stupidly hot, but it made a decent enough place to kip between great days skiing and nights out.

No probs with the deposit. I wouldn't go overboard saying it's amazing, but I'd happily stay again if it was all that was left. Plus, an amazing view of the mountains.

We arrived and after queuing more than 1 hour we learned that everything was extra here. Towels, bed linen, TV, Wifi - you can easily pay up to €200-300 for quite basic things. The Wifi was available only around the reception (still quite slow) - no signal in your room. The TV is joke, old model with a monitor of size of a laptop. There were only dirty dark green blankets and you paid for bed linen to partly cover it (disgusting) for €10/per bed. We had to rent proper blanket covers elsewhere in the village. The decor was worn as well as the furniture with torn upholstery.
However, the worst came at the check out. Just like everybody, we paid the €300 deposit in cash. The day before checkout, we received a letter saying that there was a burglary in the office and they could not return our money at checkout but they offered transferring it to our IBAN account. The “alleged burglary” happened 5 days before checkout, but they did not bother sorting this out, instead they are still using our money. This is probably an old trick to rip off guests. There was nobody at the reception in the morning and it remained closed.
However, they inspected the rooms very carefully, moved all the furniture to discover dirty spots (unsuccessfully though). They removed all the remnant toilet papers and cleaning stuff to force people go down the village and buy goods. This is advertised as on piste accommodation, but in reality there are only 2-3 pistes on that side of the mountain, the best areas and the ski schools are on the other side of the valley. The village is down by 15 minutes walk and quite a walk upstairs after shopping . There are buses, but you have to change to get to the main skiing area; at least 40 minutes early morning, could be more 1 hour the way back. There is a funny system at the stops telling you the bus is coming in 2 minutes, etc. It usually shows 2 minutes for 5 minutes. The bus drivers spoke only French and some were rude as well. The pistes are upside down, meaning that the only way to get back to resort is by skiing challenging black pistes or you queue for an hour waiting for the ski lifts. The shops and restaurants are very good, but not cheap at all. You may want to book the table the day before.
I summary, these people might steal your deposit. The service is very poor, there is nothing in the hotel itself. You pay for many extras. Getting around is a pain. NO. NO. NO!

After reading all the reviews on here about this hotel I was dreading staying there. Much to my surprise it was easily accesed by the bus, staff were friendly and had a good level of english, the rooms were clean, and it was a good ski in-ski out for the money.

There was no broken dishes, surly staff, vomit smelling bed linen that the reviews had led me to expect.

If you are paying bargain prices then don't expect luxury. It was exactly what we paid for.

If you are staying here I would say it is before for younger people, but there were plenty of families there as well.

The turrets on the building give it a hint of Colditz ...
Stayed here for a week on 5th Feb. Arrived at 8pm and the rep had got our room key and the linen pack sorted. Took our own towels just in case.
Reception is rarely open although staff are behind the shutters and are ok, sometimes ..... once you arrive but evil when you leave, lots of tutting, frowning and doors shut in your face, READ THE WELCOME PACK AND FOLLOW TO THE LETTER !
The place is what you would expect for the money in terms of decor etc, it is predominately occupied by 18- 30 guests who enjoy shouting and snowboarding at 2.30 am - 4.30 am with the odd snowboarding session at the same time on the piste outside our window complete with shouting and "whoo hoo-ing" constantly.
The location isn't ideal being at the far end of town and up 300+ steps but the buses are efficient and like clockwork and your in town in 5 mins or so although they stop at 8pm.
Everything here is "extra" there are ski lockers but we left ours at the bottom of lifts in a ski rental shop for 20 euro each for the week to save carrying all around town.
Apart from that you pay pay pay.... tv, 40 euros, break a tv 370 euros, linen , 10 euros, towels, took our own, apartment cleaning at end of stay, 40 euros, unless you do it yourself which is standard in these places but fortunately a cleaning pack is available at reception....10 euros !
You have to book an "inspection" visit to your apartment before you leave, so stand in the corner like a naughty school child as they check EVERYTHING ! even moving furniture away from the walls to look behind , best bet to avoid any hassle, fill in the inventory sheet when you arrive and take photos of any damage on arrival then you get your 300 euro deposit back.
Snow conditions were spring like here as no snow for over a month, although some forecast this week. Weather was blue sky and 11 degrees so watched the snow melt on a daily basis, most runs shut back into town and very very green lower down. Glacier was ok but getting thin and icy.
To summarise ,very noisy, location in town not ideal, but do-able, poor reception, average apartments, expensive town, 13 euros for a cooked chicken to take away ! handy to board the small hill outside accom but can do it all in an hour or less. Would I go again ? NO, would I recommend... NO.

Stayed in this apart hotel for a week. It's in beautiful location on the hill next to the ski-area.Just excellent ski-out from the residence. We booked the apartment for 10 people (5room apartment) and it was realy nice, clean and with nice balcony. There was 3 large bedrooms, one small bedroom, 2 bathrooms and kitchen with living room. To the center of town is about 300 steps...or 10 min of walking. Just right for an evening walk. Nearby is also a bakery where you can get every morning fresh bread.

For us, this was a perfect location...Cheap but excellent.

We have just returned from a holiday in Les deux Alpes, we stayed at Le Flocon d'or - there were 8 adults and 1 infant (20 months)..after reading the very negative reports on this accomodation we were quite worried! we arrived in resort for a week ski holiday yeah we had to wait until 5 p.m. to get the keys to the appartments, but we knew this before we arrived. We were greeted by reception staff that spoke excellent english...we were given 2 rooms opposite each other...our rooms were brilliant - each room had 4 adults (although they would take 6), we had 1 x shower room, 1 x bathroom and a double room and a bunk room...we had ample storage......having read the reports on trip advisor about these appartments i wonder if the people writing have actually been on many ski trips? We are in our late 40's and have had 2 ski holidays a year for the last 20 years!! what are people expecting...this is ski in and ski out and is basic accomodation (as advertised)......and yes there are a lot of steps up to the appartments, but again it is ski out! For a budget accomodation it was pleasantly surprising!!

The staff were aggressive and rude! Looking back at the reviews things have always been that way.
There was 6 of us in a "6 person" flat. it was TINY! me and my boyfriend slept on bunk beds in a cupboard!

It was discustingly dirty, tissues and socks under the bed, we didn't have an oven, we had a microwave. so for 6 people it was a mission to cook dinner.
the glasses still had toothpaste in them from being used in the bathroom,
the utensiles were crap, things were literally falling apart. they'd put a dishwasher where there should have been an oven! we had baking dishes that wouldn't fit in the microwave!

Pubes in the bath, the blankets they supplied were SOILED!!! some smelt of vomit. serioussly bad.

On check in you have to shell out cash for sheets, TOURIST TAX???? you PAY for the cleaners who have left you with s crappy flat. and a big diposit which we witnessed some italians try and retrieve when their coach was waiting outside. they closed the door in their face and said reception is CLOSED. (it was rarely open)

we had no hot water for 24 hours!!!

250 stairs down the mountain side to get to the town. it's the walking up that's a problem if you fancy popping out for a drink!

internet access to wifi was like 20euros for 5 hours!!!

The cristal reps were lovely and tried their best to sort it but it was beyond their control.

The hotel staff wouldn't move us to another room.

Just avoid this place like the plague!
