I don't normally bother with Trip Advisor, but just occaisionally you come across a place that deserves all the praise you can heap upon it. This is one such place - and having just returned for the 6th time, it just keeps getting better. New lifts, new dishes on the menu (go for the breakfast souffle) and the fimiliar welcome of Sam, Dave and Della all just over an hour away from Geneva. Brilliant.

Another fabulous holiday at Chalet Fan La Bise ! What a great way to start the New Year. The same wonderful warm welcome and comfy rooms. High energy mornings on the slopes (kept going by the lovely big breakfasts) and long lazy evenings in front of the fire whilst the kids keep themselves busy building crazy sledge courses in the garden... Pre-dinner drinks and nibbles and some tasty new recipes to try. Sam and Dave found us a really good local restaurant for New Year's Eve and dropped us off at the foot of the slopes with a smile every day. I could have stayed forever......

We have been going to Chalet Fan La Bise for 11 years so have known Dave and Sam when they first got there. Thank you for another wonderful holiday, the usual fab food but most of all the warmth of the welcome and comfort of the chalet - nothing is ever too much trouble. Great snow and sun too. See you again!

This is our second holiday at Chalet Fan La Bise with Sam and Dave and it lived up to our expectations - and more.

The itinery they had drawn up was carefully planned to include visits to places we hadn't seen before + some favourites such as market day in Annecy and Col des Aravis. The packed lunches were as good as ever and Sam or Dave accommpanied us on each jaunt and joined in when we started sketching.

The weather was wonderful and it was interesting to see the mountains in autumn, as our last visit had been in June. The fresh mountain air and the quiet position of the chalet proved very restorative.

Evening meals were delicious and the company relaxed and friendly.

It is one of our favourite holiday destinations and hopefull we will be back again.

Another great week at Chalet fan le Bise. Sam and Dave really made us feel at home and the whole trip seem effortless, from picking us and our bike boxes up at Geneva airport through to great breakfasts to set us up for a hard days riding and a fantastic evening meal to re-fuel in the evening. The accommodation is very good with a great main seating/dining area and comfortable bedrooms, and ample bike storage. The chalet is in a fantastic location just outside of La Clusaz, a lovely little ski town but beware the ride back up, it's a real sting in the tail after a hard day riding up every mountain in sight.

The cycling in the area is fantastic, it might not be the high alps but there are plenty of TdF cols in the local area including Colombierre, Col des Arravis, and Col de la Croix Fry. Venture a bit further afield and the Joux Plaine is within riding distance and not to be sniffed at. A trip down to Annecy is a must as is the ride up Le Semnoz, not a well known climb but take my word for it, it's hard!

All in all a fantastic week with great hosts, go catered and you won't be disappointed

Perhaps the Cols of the Haute Savoie aren't are well know as the high alps, but there is plenty to ride up and dig yourself into a hole on. And if you are planning to go and ride hard up some mountains, then this has to be a great place to base oneself.

Located at the foot of the Col des Aravis and the easy side of the Col de al Croix Fry and just a town over from the Colombiere just above La Clusaz, Chalet Fan La Bise was a welcome home for a week of riding. Sam and Dave where fantastic hosts and the chalet is comfortable, welcoming and homely. The food was fantastic and plentiful- important for hungry cyclists taking the catered option, and the glass or two of vin rouge with the evening meal to dull the pain was more than welcome.

We rode 600-odd km with about 14,000m of vertical gain, which we never would have managed without such a warm, hospitable and welcome base for our 5 days of riding. There is a large hall come bikeshed downstairs that we were kindly allowed to take over, and the hanging kit and bidons everywhere wasn't a problem. THey even put a kit wash on for us one day while we were out on the bikes!

Just beware of the last climb of the day back out of town and to the Chalet, the sting in the tail to end the days ride!

Oh, and if you go catered, I hope you get the homemade Tartiflette! Amazing!
