Spacious clean rooms, super helpful staff (some English speaking). Good choice continental breakfast. Fabulous location in the heart of the village and near the slopes with fabulous views. If you get a chance visit the spa it’s 12 euros extra but perfect way to relax after day skiing.

We stayed at the Royal Ours Blanc for three nights. It was great, the location is good (but not ski in-ski out), right in the centre of Alpe D'Huez about a 5min walk to the lift. Plus points- comfy clean rooms, cute balcony, big bath, ski lockers (although boot warmer didn't always work), friendly staff generally (guys making cocktails were great). Swimming pool is pretty and a good size, spa treatments were superb. Downsides- no vegetarian options at the restaurant, although this is standard in France who seem to detest vegetarians, but considering 1 in 8 people in the UK are vegetarian or vegan now and the resort has loads of English visitors but that's another story..., phone in room didn't work so could not order an iron, pool a little cold, and one female receptionist was quite rude, we asked her to book a restaurant for us whilst we were out skiing and she said she couldn't. We also asked her to call the spa and she said we would need to see them ourselves. Perhaps she is allergic to phones. Water not replaced in room, which would have been nice considering how dry the mountain air is. All in all a good hotel, but could be a very good hotel with a few inexpensive tweaks.

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Ours in July 2018 for the Tour de France. We have really nothing but good things to say about the hotel. The rooms were updated and modern, and had plenty of USB connections and outlets. Our room had a small balcony, which was functional, but not very large. The bathrooms were good and the room was generally clean. There might have been a spot or two missed by housekeeping due to the quick turnarounds and fully booked rooms of Le Tour. Breakfast was good and there were ample choices. We would definitely stay there again and utilize more of the grounds. We did not use the spa. The hotel is located in a prime spot in the center of Alpe D'Huez. Note we were not there during ski season, so cannot comment on locations to lifts, slopes, etc. The staff was friendly, but we didn't overly engage with them much at all. We would definitely stay there again. The room did not have air conditioning, but did have a coffee/tea pot for boiling water, which was a huge plus for me.

The four star hotel is really a nice place. Conveniently located in the middle of the village, but ski-out needs either some climbing downhill 300 meters or a bus to the round de piste, so not family friendly with smaller kids. The hotel is built in a rustic wooden structure and insulation is not their strong side, so we needed to turn up the radiator in our room, which worked fine. Unfortunately there are some tables in the restaurant, that should be avoided in the winter time, since the curtains are moving and it’s cold if you don’t wear something sturdy. We had half board including evening meal, which is a four meal deal with a soup, a starter, a main course and a dessert table. We’re in France, yes, so the quality is really good and the waiters, although young, tried their best and the restaurant experience is really good and can truly be recommended. The dessert table is lavish and daily tough going skiing is needed to keep your weight down. The hotel has two lifts, which can make life a puzzle: One only goes from ground floor and up to 7th floor, the other also brings you down to the spa and the storage room for your ski. The puzzle comes to play when you exit the restaurant and finds another lift: It’s just part of one of the other lifts, but you can not go to the restaurant deck down, only up! After the first day on ski we arrived in the hotel wet and cold, looking forward to the swimmingpool, which looks impressive of all photos and really is it too. Unfortunately it’s too cold, too cold. It’s not okay to swim and feel cold – you get the feeling that they are trying to sell tickets to the spa by keeping the temperature of the water too low, that’s not okay. Overall a great place though, worth the cost.

Dear Globetrotter,
Thank you for your comment and for your stay at the Royal Ours Blanc Hotel. This accurate review will let us improve our services.
We are doing our best with the swimming-pool. The average temperature is 30°C while the room is hotter. We have to find the good balance to make it comfortable by reducing the air temperature.
Best Regards.
