I recently stayed for 2 nights with my husband, my sister and her husband at this hotel.

I was worried we were going to have difficulties finding it as we were getting conflicting locations from various on line maps when we put in the address on their website! Although the post town shows as Gassin, it's not actually in Gassin but is located on the main road between Sainte Maxime and St Tropez. So as long as you stay on the main road it's very easy to find!

On arrival at the hotel we immediately knew we had made a good choice. It's immaculate and very tastefully decorated. My husband & I had a room overlooking the sea. It was quite a small room but with gorgeous views over to St Tropez. This also means it was overlooking the main road but to be honest although it's a really busy road, you hardly get any noise from it due to the double glazing. The windows also have fantastic blinds which block out every bit of light - I've never slept in a room before which didn't have a bit of light creeping in from somewhere!

My sister & her husband had a room beside the stairs and although they loved the room itself, they were woken several times by people walking up and down the stairs during the night.

The pool area is beautiful although you do get quite a bit of traffic noise there.

Breakfast is eaten outside on the patio each morning which was very pleasant. It's probably a little bit expensive for what you get (yoghurt with fruit compote and croissants / pain au chocolat, orange juice and tea / coffee). However, considering the area the hotel is located in we weren't too taken aback by this and still felt it was worthwhile paying for.

The owners of the hotel were really friendly and helpful. They even gave us some bottles of water when we left, for our car journey to our next accommodation.

I'd love to go back and stay there again if I go back to St Tropez again.

We spent three nights at La Villa Hotel in April in one of the modern sea view rooms with a terrace. The room was exactly as it appears on the website, and we enjoyed having a table and chairs on the terrace where we could enjoy our picnic dinners while gazing at the Golfe de St. Tropez. The owners of the hotel did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The continental breakfast was ample, and they even provided extra pain au chocolate when they found out our penchant for them.

There were several minor things which we hope could be improved in the future: Due to the lack of a barrier next to the bath tub/shower, we were unable to prevent water from flooding the floor of the bathroom. The constant damage from the water exposure is beginning to take its toll. We would have expected glass rather than plastic glasses in the bathroom in a 3-star hotel. Lastly, the blanket/bedspread had a strange odor to it which we could not identify.

Overall, we felt that the hotel was slightly overpriced given the time of year and distance from St. Tropez.

If you do visit the area, make the drive or walk up to Gassin and enjoy lunch on the terrace at Le Micocoulier. Be sure to taste the Chateau Minuty rosé while overlooking the Minuty Vineyards!

This charming hotel is less than a mile from Saint-Tropez's city center parking. It's located on the main road into the city.

The hotel staff are welcoming and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Our room had a seaview and French country/provencal decor. The bathroom was modern and large compared to most European bathrooms.

The hotel offers parking onsite, but you must advise the hotel that you require parking when making your reservation as space is limited.

The garden patio is lovely, the pool deck is large enough for several guests and the lounge area is very comfortable.

The only downside to the hotel is that it does not have a lift. There is just the ground floor and a second floor. If stairs are difficult for you make sure to request a ground floor room.

If I am able to return to Saint-Tropez again someday I would definitely stay at the Hotel La Villa.

Room Tip: L'établissement situé à Gassin surplombe la route principale qui va vers saint- tropez. Le vacarme est permanent.
