“What a great find in Gassin”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

We loved Le Pescadou so much, we returned for dinner twice while we stayed in the St. Tropez area. We visited this restaurant for the first time based on Tripadvisor reviews and our meal was excellent in all respects. The 30 Euro pre-fix dinner is an amazing value and with 6 Euro per glass wine, you just can't go wrong. The food is outstanding and the atmosphere is great. The service is also superb. They have 2 seatings per night: 7:30 and 9:30 so make sure you come at 7:30 if you want to try their fantastic Provancal special that is only available on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Overall, amazing!

“Great food but even better service”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Visited for the first time 2 days ago. It wasn't the restaurant I intended to go to in Gassin as a guide book had mentioned another one but I liked the look of this menu better than the others. Had not pre-booked and arrived at 6pm, an hour before they opened. From the minute I accosted a waiter as he was setting up the tables to see if they would have a table free I was greeted like a favourite relative, welcomed to take a great seat for an aperitif and looked after right up until opening. The €30 menu for a three course meal was superb and my son catered to very well on the childs menu. The fabulous service continued right throughout the meal with every need anticipated. I've been here in the South of France for just over a week now and have not found the service anywhere to be particularly good but here it is service I will remember for a long time from the English speaking lady to the lovely waiters. We had a crab & prawn salad to start, husband had a lovely steak and I had gambas and the trio of mini deserts. The house white wine was also very good. The view over the St Tropez bay from the restaurant was also great. I would not hesitate to recommend or indeed go again. A real find.

The food was incredible with a fantastic service. Could not have asked for more. Would recommend booking a table well in advance!

“Location, service, food, value - all fine”
Reviewed August 15, 2013 via mobile

A party of 9 descending on this idyllically sited restaurant with spectacular views in hilltop Gassin might have expected to phase a busy restaurant such as this but no such problem. Table booked for 7pm and good value achieved pre 9.30pm with a €30 menu allowing 3 course choice from the a la carte excluding chef specialities (fairly small supplements to be added for the top notch items). That said one of our party ate from the alc and the gambas were massive, almost lobster size! The house rosé excellent, when in Rome etc. drink local! Staff were patient, attentive, efficient and pleasant, though extremely busy. Two women seemed in charge and ran the establishment extremely hands on and most effectively. This place deserves its popularity. It is quite hard to park in Gassin so travel early along the very busy St Tropez bound roads before you turn off up into the hills. The hairpin route cuts off some of the StT road so is a quieter route though not for the faint hearted passenger. Our route home after the roads had quietened was straighter, quicker and less inducing of travel sickness!

Recommend a visit, book in advance, go for the earlier sitting for value, start off early, be patient finding a parking space. You will doubtless walk the last 300/400 metres to the restaurant on the ramparts.

Excellent service in this beautiful restaurant with seating overlooking the bay of St Tropez. They offer a wide selection of food as well as 'set menus'. The food really was very good and the staff were charming. This was our second visit (the first was two years ago) and I'd definitely go there again. Worth a visit to Gassin anyway, if only for the views!
