We went there for lunch. The place was empty, the service was awful. I had to get up 3 times to ask or get what I needed. Lastly, the food is not good anymore.

Was here sometime ago & was amazing. Excellent food at super reasonable price & good service.
Took my friend traveled from Hong Kong to try this "perfect French special wooden restaurant", ended up with stressful meal.
Arrived at 2030, not full onva Monday night. Starter served at 2130. Imagine how long did the main course came after. I had to ask the dessert & the bill whenbthr lady cleard up the main course plate as my son got the school & my friend need to catch the train back to Geneva.
Foodwise, starter was fine & couldn't understand it took almost an hour to prepare the cold cut meat & baked pear with cheese.
The main course chicken was still moist but not much taste with a few drop of sauce & no skill to cook. Before was very fine & can see lot of work inside. Now is only easy pan fired.
After dinner my husband said someone told him the chef is no longer the old one... guess this is the reason why.

Auberge du Vieux Bois is nestled in the forest in Divonne-les-Bains, France. We invited family members to celebrate my husband's and my sister-in-law's birthdays. Everyone chose from the à la carte menu, although the daily special was Reblochon cheese fondue.

The restaurant was very busy on this Sunday - reservations are required on weekends, suggested otherwise.

Perfectly prepared sole meunière, fine steaks, attractive and fairly-priced fixed menus, (almost too) bountiful salads for appetizers ... we "ate like God in France".

Our nephew's sons attend a college specializing in preparation for working in the hotel and restaurant industry. His youngest son asked if he could choose the red wine - gladly, we said! He picked a very fine red, a Côtes du Nuits (75 cl, 38.00 €). The rosé was an easy choice, Château Olivette (35.00 €) from Bandol, where our niece lives - and already known to us from visits there.

The two youngest of our guests proved to be the most adventurous in ordering - fricasse d'escargot and terrine de fois gras as appetizers. Hotel College obviously agrees with them - they definately know about the finest foods in France.

Ah, the desserts. Let's start with the best pear sorbet ever. Again, the choices are diverse - from a very generous serving of profiteroles to delicate sorbets you can order by the "boule", or scoop. We tried quite a few desserts - forks and spoons were in constant use as desserts made the rounds at our table.

Now for the best recommendation a guest can give:

We enjoyed Auberge du Vieux Bois so much that four of us returned for lunch later in the week. The restaurant deserves five stars! The staff members were most attentive on both visits - well-schooled too. The only suggestion we have is more appropriate clothing for the service team.

Extremely disappointed with the food quality and service. We waited one hour to get our main dishes. Finally they came cold and uneatable. We had to send them back to the kitchen to get them heated...
All in all, our visit to this restaurant was a very bad experience..

Food was very late to be served and then it was served cold. They had a problem in the kitchen and didn't inform the customers. A couple left without eating because their dish was late!
