Stayed at Hotel Amelie during a ski trip to Les Trois Vallees. Friendly, helpful staff and very safe. Felt at home in the hotel. Nice, spacious rooms and inexpensive. The bar and restaurant are very posh. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone travelling to Les Trois Vallees.

I stayed with my partner at the Amelie whilst skiing in the Three Valleys. The link to Meribel is fine and not a problem unless you want to party in Meribel at night. The time in the gondola would equiate to staying on the edges of Meribel in terms of getting to the slopes.
The first gondola up was 8:30 which arrived in Meribel before the first lift out to the slopes.
The hotel is small and in the centre of the town which has a few ski shops, bars, reataurants and other local shops. A small Spar shop is oposite for general shopping. The town has a large spa complex which we didnt use.
We were made to feel welcome from arrrival to departure. All the staff we dealt with were helpful and courteous and helped with our french if we got words or pronunciation wrong. This was appreciated by us and by them as very few english guests make any effort to use the local language.
The room was a decent size and kept clean but could have benefited from coat hooks for ski jackets rather than put them in the wardrobe. The ski locker in the boot room was large enough for two sets of gear and had boot dryers inside.
The apre ski terrace was good as was the price reductions on drinks from 4-6pm. Crepes and hotdogs were available on the terrace at sensible prices.
The meals in the main restaurant were good and well presented and tasty apart from one rice dish. The variety during our stay was good. The size of portions could have been bigger for the larger post skiing appetites.
Breakfast was the usual mix of cheese, ham, cereals etc. The only complaint was that the scrambled eggs were cold on occasion. It wasnt a major problem as the staff quickly heated the eggs when asked. The early birds also got the best of the ham.
The bar area is comfy with leather sofas dotted about with 3 large screen TV's. The hotel has free wifi and 2 computers for guest use. The one in the bar area appeared to be free to guests.
Noise was never a problem at the hotel.
Overall we had a great time in the hotel and would go back again and recommend it to freinds and family.

we stayed in amelie whilst on a skiing holiday. rooms were spacious, comfotable and very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food (table d'hote was excellent and waiters if requested offered a substitute course). Overall was very pleasantly surprised as hotel was good value for money.

The Amelie is fine, believe me, I did look at the negative reviews posted recently and none reflected our experience. It's a smart, comfortable but no frills hotel. Free and fast wi-fi, nice large comfortable rooms, ours was quite despite being just around the corridor from the bar. Excellent breakfast to fill you up for the day's skiing and the dinner with the half-board deal was fine. We left earlier than we had booked for because the snow in Méribel is rubbish at the moment, but there were no issues from the staff about the early departure and we were only charged for the actual stay. One grumble - over-priced wine by the bottle only in the restaurant, whereas some basic house carafes would have been appreciated.

This hotel scores in two departments 1) world class internet; fast and ubiqitous 2) Great staff service (excluding reception)
Rooms are a good size, but the web site photographs must have been taken a few years ago! Big downside is the bed, which is cheap and not that comfortable.
Good restaurant with good value evening fit menu
Located in the centre of a quiet ski town with a good Savoy restaurant 2 minutes away.
Ski shops but no night life
Cable car to Meribel works well, but long transfer

Having read the reviews on this site before travelling, my girlfriend and I weren't quite sure what to expect when we went to Hotel Amelie for a Xmas / New Year skiing trip.

First impressions are not hugely favourable - the hotel isn't pretty and Brides itself is an unexceptional town. Our room was small and decor was a bit dated, although perfectly functional but certainly there wasn't a huge amount of space. On the plus side though, everything worked, and there was plenty of hot water for post-ski baths.

Where the hotel really does well though is the attitude of staff and quality of food. They couldn't have been more helpful, and the staff in the restaurant in particular were first class. We were on a half board stay - breakfasts were fine, continental style and perfectly adequate. Dinners were fabulous though - 3 courses of French cuisine painstakingly prepared each day. Not all dishes will be to everyone's taste, but if you want a taste of proper French food, well cooked and great service you will get it at Hotel Amelie.

The hotel also has storage for skis, boots etc in a locker room, and a bar which gets fairly busy for the apres-ski period.

The only downside of staying in Brides is that you have to get a 25 minute gondola to Meribel. Not a huge pain in itself, but the last one back down leaves at 5pm leaving you no opportunity for apres-ski in Meribel itself. Also, there is NO public transport from Meribel to Brides (although you can apparently get a bus from Courchevel to Brides which takes about an hour). So, if you stay in Brides, you are quite isolated from the ski area in the evenings, unless you get a taxi which cost us €45 on New Year's Eve. Having said that though, it is a lot cheaper than Meribel so swings and roundabouts.

All in all, if you do have to stay in Brides, Amelie is a great choice.

We stayed from Boxing Day and left just after New Year. We had lovely time. Food was very well presented, 3 course, delicious and great quality. There was internet acces and very plesant bar area, where you can relax. Hotel also has dry ski area, where you can lock up your gear. (do not overpay for lockers at the gondola station- 40-50 euros! there is only 5min walk. Rooms very clean, it would be nice to be able to make your own hot drink in the room, but on the good side there is little Spar shop 2 opposite the hotel, you can get all essentials there. All the staff was professional and friendly. We had special New years eve night organised-I can only say wow, 5 course meal, dancing (dj) and decorations, very nice atmosphere, we feelt very well looked after.
