“Worth your time”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

There's a super museum of local Roman finds. Of course, like a lot of French museums, most of the information is in French. That aside, one can see why this area was a country residence for wealthy Romans.

“must see”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

When in Vaison...visit these sites! Start with the Museum and visit the 2 sites afterwards. Do not miss the ancient Theatre, which is beautiful.
The audioguide is very usefull. Besides the 2 sites, the audioguide also gives information about some sights throughout the city (like the roman bridge and the medieval village). Be sure to also use it there!

“Well presented historic site”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

Some impressive Roman remains in this lovely town. They are well presented, and there is an interesting museum. A free audioguide is available, which was very useful as the signs are in French (obviously!). The small museum is well laid out and informative - there is a very good (short) film which shows alternately in French and English. It sets the scene for the ruins outside, so do the museum first.

The site is exposed, so take hats and suncream or raincoats depending on the weather.

“Interesting site”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Excellent site of archaeological interest.

An interesting and informative museum full of items discovered in the area is in the centre of the main site (the secondary site is across the road and through the car park) and I thought this was worth the entrance charge alone.

The amphitheatre is not as glorious as those to be found in Orange or Arles but is still of significant interest to the casual visitor.

There could be a little more information available on boards as you walk round the site but overall it's a most enjoyable visit

“Wonderful Roman small town site”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

A small site with villas, a theatre, an ancient shopping arcade, and nice small museum. Easily visited in a couple of hours. Vaison-la-Romaine itself is a pretty town with an excellent Tuesday market.
