We chose this 3 star Hotel as it was convenient for visiting friends living in Confoux-Cornillon and to explore the Carmargue the next day. On arrival we were impressed by the gated development that had a large pool, bar/ restaurant close by and attractive Hotel building and grounds with ample parking. The reception was clean and well laid out. The female member of staff that greeted us was courteous and spoke good English.
We had booked an overnight stop in a “Motel Double Room”. We were horrified as we approached our room. Our immediate reaction was that we were being housed in a converted garage block to the side of the Hotel. We were even offered one of the parking bays in the adjoining block! Outside the room there was just enough space to accommodate a small plastic table and two chairs. As we entered the room we noticed that the paintwork looked tired and was beginning to peel off the concrete walls that were painted red. The double room and en-suite was to say the least compact and did not benefit from much daylight.
However, once we got over our initial shock, we realised that the room was clean and the furnishings were actually quite acceptable. However, we now know the difference between a “Grand Comfort Double Room” at the Hotel and the “Motel Double Room”. The first is 3star and the latter is considerably less. That said the Hotel facilities are good and the continental breakfast the next morning was excellent.

Room Tip: Book a "Grand Comfort" Room, it will be more acceptable.

It's a nice site located among small towns without many amenities. I did not try the restaurant, but I should have because there was nowhere else to go at 9 pm.Too bad it was too cold for the pool, which looked very nice.

Unusually for a french hotel I have rarely seen this many tv channels on offer, especially foreign ones. Two thumbs up for that. I also liked the comprehensive breakfast and the helpful staff. The location is great for jogging in the nature with stunning views of the Berre lake from the woods.
The downside was that the pool was frozen during my visit.

Great hotel, will definately stay there again. The location is perfect for the wine country or the port towns. The staff was wonderful and they upgraded us to a bigger room when they found out we were on our honeymoon. Loved the pool and the breakfast room. Wish I was there right now!

Room Tip: Book your room by calling, do not do it online.

A haven of peace in the city with its large garden and pool area. Great room decoration and newly renovated bathrooms (at least in our case). Nice breakfast and extremely helpful staff.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
To stay at Hotel Le Mirage, is more like living at a resort than a hotel. An experience unlike most in the region. It is set in a private and enclosed pine tree park of over 5 hectares within the city of Istres in Provence. We sport a nearly half-olympic size swimming pool that will give you memorable and peaceful moments under the treetops. You could of course also swim at the nearby Etang de Berre or at the beaches of the Mediterranean sea as an alternative ! Istres itself is ideally positionned between Marseille (about 50km), Aix-En-Provence (about 40km) & Arles (about 25km) with access to all the main tourist sites or business areas of Provence. The Marseille Provence Airport is located exactly between Istres and Marseille. ... more   less
