“Our summer home”
Reviewed August 31, 2011

Our family (especially kids) love Villa Marie as we stayed here several times now. It's a great place if you want to stay away from posh Tropezienne hotels, yet enjoy high-level service, stylish rooms and great views of Pampelonne bay area. That however means you have to be prepared to commute to the town and to the beaches. And be prepared for the bill - it ain't cheap place. Greetings to the Team of Villa Marie, see you again (the sooner the better!).
PS. Lunch menu could be a little bit more robust, last time we missed grilled fish and seafood that in that past had used to keep us at the hotel pool instead of going to the beach!

The staff is young , kind and professional.
The concierge, Thierry will give you good advise to find the best places to go..
The hotel has a fantastic view on vineyards and Pamplonne beach (less than 10mns drive)
Only problem if you have breakfast in your room -really not worth the price!(same as in a 3stars hotel)

Overbooking, poor service and frankly downright rotten experience with no value for money. Rather like their sister hotels in Megeve.

This comment is very hard and suspicious. Our team is always mentioned for their efficacity and kindness. A manager is always at the guest's disposal all day long, for any request or comment in order to give the best of service. It's a pity nobody told us during this stay how unhappy they were and gave us the chance to take immediately corrective actions if needed.

I stayed for 4 nights to celebrate July 14th and I found Villa Marie fantastic, exceeding all my expectations... A paradise on earth!
Everything was absolutely perfect.... the room, the service, the surrounding.
We did not have dinner in the restaurant but the location is fantastic, with an amazing view on the sea. Breakfast in the morning is something you can't miss!
They also provide a free shuttle service to St. Tropez in the evening,
We had a wonderful stay and we would recommend it to anyone - although it is quite expensive!

My husband and I go to St tropes every year. We stayed in many hotels in St Tropes so this time we decide to try "the most romantic" hotel. The first impression was very nice. The grounds are beautiful! The whole feel is very romantic!!!
When we came to the room we were a bit disappointed....it was small and dark....especially for the price. Of course St Tropes is always overpriced, but still. Anyway, we decided to have good time anyway. And we did! The service at Villa Marie was very good. I really enjoyed breakfast, very nicely done. Ladies at reception were very sweet and helpful.
Overall experience was great. It is very romantic hotel! But be ready that its not going to be cheap :-)

We stayed for two nights as part of a touring trip of the Cote d'Azur and absolutely loved it. We visited quite a few nice hotels en route, but this was our favourite. It had an excellent mix of traditional and modern, with every amenity you could think of.

The breakfasts were super and it was so perfect sitting outside in the sunshine and warmth having croissants and coffee. We had one meal in the restaurant, which exceeded all expectations and the maitre d' was very helpful and tolerant of our poor french.

They also provide a shuttle service to St. Tropez which makes a trip into town hassle free and they'll come back up to midnight. After this they'll arrange a taxi, so no probs at all.

We had an altogether wonderful stay and we would recommend it to anyone - although it was a rather pricey.

Setting
On a small hill overlooking Pampellonne beaches. Close to Saint-Tropez Center.

Rooms
Standard Rooms:
Ground floor rooms with own terrace rather dark and damp (Room 18). Some nicer rooms in first floor overlooking the inner courtyard, also having some sea-views from the balcony (Room 37). The room was noisy, tap of neighbouring room is as if in our own room (somehow even more noisy). Unacceptable for such pricerange (we paid 450,- EUR BB).
Choice of colour with lots of grey tones (ceiling, doors of the drawers, sofa, chair etc) make the room unnecessarily dark and depressing.
The bath is part of the main room, the WC is in a separate small room. It was ok for us.

Deluxe Rooms (Room 42):
Better decoration, slightly bigger. Good view from the balcony but small windows. Some of them (under the roof) have very low ceilings, for tall guests a bit problematic. Overall nice.

Generally the hotel has a noise-problem! The slamming of the room entry doors is remarkable noisy and disturbing, even if you're not in an adjacent room. Also the pricing for the rooms seems to be too high (and when we were there, in June, the hotel was not heavily booked during the week)

Suggestions
Change wall-painting from grey to colours of light
Think about general pricerange
Reduce the pricing for the ground floor rooms
De-noise the rooms (very important)

Breakfast
Rather expensive but very good choice. Fruits, bread, ham, cheese, alls kinds of marmalade and honey, freshly prepared egg dishes etc.
Suggestions
Think about the pricing or include it into packages (as done with our rate)
Make special price for kids

The Bar
Superbe setting, great view, well decorated. Shades and sun, spray of water on hot days. Excellent. For the bar menu see below, “restaurant”

Restaurant
Setting, Decoration, View
Well decorated indoor area in natural coloured textiles, azure items and cushions, outdoor area nicely made, good view on the bay of Pampellonne.

Food
Too expensive. Two dorade grillee, one soupe de poisson, one melon&Jambon, one bottle of the cheapest rose and one bottle mineral water = 229 EUR for two persons (Oups). Good view, Good service. Overpriced, even for the south of france. No changing menu. Restaurant was at some days not very well booked. Even the people who generally could afford it look on the price-value. The restaurants target should be to keep the people in the hotel. Same points apply for the bar menu.

Suggestions
Daily changing menu or different menus for each day of the week
Reduce prices to acceptable level, e.g. an dorade grille from today 45 (no side-dish included) down to 30 EUR including one side-dish, a “normal” starter should cost not more than 15 EUR (Of course Caviar will be more expensive)
Integrate also some kind of “fusion” cuisine, especially to the starter section.
Integrate some food for children (as the hotel is booked by lots of people with childs)
Probably offer a half board menu
Make the restaurant a profit center.

Public Areas
Nicely made, like in a well decorated private Villa.

Pool
Beautiful.

Service
Very friendly and helpful. Always a smile and good mood. Very good.
When asking for a Wärmflasche they didn't have one. Very important for a hotel with lots of familes in.

Suggestions
Obviously the hotel owns a boat for some cruises. Offer day cruises for the guests to collect some of them to fill up the boat

Price / Value
I would rate it too expensive.
