“Second time there....just as good!!!”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Just got back from Europe and was in Le Lavandou again so decided to stay at Le Grand Pavois again. They've updated and added to it since I was there before, about 3 years ago. Is quite nice! Still the same friendly staff there! Room we got wasn't on the top floor as last time that had incredible views but was on the second floor that had a decent view of the Sea. The room was clean and huge with a huge bed and 2 singles in another room. A nice restaurant downstairs that we were going to try but when we asked the lady at the desk where a good local meal could be found she mentioned a little place down the road....then the hotel's restaurant. lol. We tried the little new restaurant a short distance down the road and she was right, it was fantastic! We walked into Le Lavandou again, marvelling at the stunning scenery from the hotel all the way into town. Walked back a few hours later, still in awe of the scenery then went to the beach just across the street. The room was just as good as the first time that I was there.....sitting on the patio with a bottle of wine, enjoying the sights and sounds of the Sea just across the street. Will definitely be going back here again the next time that I am in that area!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor for better, unobstructed views of the Sea!

We found this hotel by chance - and it was a lifesaver! This is the type of hotel that I wish existed in every city, town and village. One doesn't need more - the rooms are modern, clean, new. I love five stars, don't get me wrong - but when traveling Europe with a really weak currency like the South African rand, luxury hotels are simply not an option. And hotels like Le Grand Pavois are exactly what you need - no compromise on hygiene, clean, and neat - and at 100 euros a night, it is spot on, totally perfect.

The location is ideal, situated on a great strip of the coastline, giving you access to the whole coastline from Le Lavandou all the way to Saint Tropez. The coastline is dotted with little beaches, restaurants and coastal towns, and this hotel offers the PERFECT base for exploring the region.

You can hear the sea from the rooms, its got access off a quiet road separate from the main road.

What its good for: If you like to explore an area, take long day trips, and use a hotel as a base, this is it. Look no further! Its a small hotel, nothing fancy - but it is spotless, with well equipped, newly renovated simple but really modern rooms. It's a great base for a few days. It's not ideal for spending hours in your room and relaxing, but it does the trick of offering a really clean, comfortable and lovely place to shower and sleep, so that you can spend your days exploring the area. It is possibly the cleanest hotel room I have stayed in! With crisp white linen, air conditioning, ample cupboard space, a little patio that makes the room light and airy, a tv/phone and great little bathroom. All facilities in the room are brand new.

What its not good for: If you are looking for a hotel where you can park off for a week, and lie by the pool all day - this is certainly not for you!

It offers clean, functional, well located accommodation for those who wish to explore the coastline. At the most exceptionally reasonable prices of 100 euros a night! What a win.

Lack of availabilty at our original choice in St Clair meant that we had to move further to the East to Aiguebelle and what a happy accident that turned out to be. It is much more tranquil than St Clair and for a seaside stay this hotel would be hard to better. On the first floor our bedroom and particularly the bathroom were spacious and well presented. The view in the morning through the completely glazed wall across the balcony out to the Mediterranean was outstanding. The service was charming and helpful. Be prepared however to have to find parking away from the hotel at busy times.
For your evening meal do try Le Jardin the restaurant at the sister Hotel La Plage just down the road. Do not be tempted by adjacent Le Petit Pavois-no connection with the hotel.

Room Tip: First and second floors have the views.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and we could have stayed for another 3 nights in the Le Grand Pavois Hotel. The room we got was clean, modern and with a gread ocean view. Just perfect :-) The bathroom was clean too and equipped with a modern hairdryer (we do not have such a good model at home) ;-) Back to basics: the breakfast was rich and tasty on the hotel's outdoor lobby. Stylish. Hotel stuff was friendly and helpful. Unforunately, the hotel does not offer any food (no restaurant) but the partner's hotel right by side (Hotel Plage) has good daily offers.

We'll come back to lovely Aiguebelle and its very nice beach which was not at all crowded but proper and clean (thanks to Jean!) :-)

cheers.

Room Tip: take a ocean's view room!

Was driving through and decided that the area was so beautiful so we should get a hotel and walk around. The staff at checkin were incredibly friendly and helpful. Gave us directions and things we could see as we wanted to go on foot. The room we got was overlooking the Medierannean Sea and had a good sized balcony. The room itself was quite nice...I wasn't expecting it to be that good, but it definately surprised me. Just across the street is a sandy beach with beautiful water! We did go for a walk later, quite a lengthy one, to the town which was so picturesque. The walk was so beautiful though....hugging the Mediterannean Sea the whole time. Would definately stay here again though. A charming 3-star hotel with 5-star views and staff!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the water. So nice with a bottle of wine looking at the Mediterranean Se...

Tasked with finding an affordable hotel on a sandy beach in Southern France on a moment's notice after our other accomodations fell apart, I was not expecting to find such a gem. From the first contact with the front desk until we pulled away four days later, we were satisfied. This is not a luxury hotel, but a very clean, air-conditioned, and beautifully situated three star. Breakfast is 8 Euros/pp for typical baguette/croissant/yogurt/juice and coffee and it is served on a nice oceanview terrace. It is less than 100 meters from your door to a nice sandy beach with crystal clear water, with access to the beach via underground tunnel that keeps you from crossing the little street. There are several hotels and restaurants on this street and a little store that sells soft drinks and beach "stuff"/souvenirs. The staff is more than friendly, always smiling and very helpful with anything you might need. Most of the guests were French and we saw a couple of Italians but no other Americans. If you want to see more than this little sandy paradise, you will need a car, the closest grocery store and bakery are a few minutes by car. In summary: Clean, comfortable, affordable, on a clean sandy beach with lovely employees/associates. Couldn't have asked for more.
