“Beautfful place for a wonderful weekend!”
Reviewed May 5, 2010

Went to Cassis for a 3 night stay with friends, stayed in the Hotel Interhotel Cassitel, which was clean and basic. Harbour was beautiful, a wonderful place to visit, would highly recommend. Very picturesque, if you like walking a hike up the cliff tops is ideal. Took about 2 hours and first part of walk quite hard going, but views when you get to the top are stunning. Lots of quaint restaurants on your doorstep, not cheap, due to the Euro, but had a lovely atmosphere. Beware of letting waiters choose the wine for you, choose the house, as much cheaper! Took a trip into Marsaille and visited Basilique de Notre Dame de la Garde, worth a look, again for the views over Marsaille. Overall visit was fantastic and would love to go back.

“Beautiful Cassis”
Reviewed October 17, 2009

Cassis is beautiful. Parking is extremely difficult. We were there in September after the buses to the remote lots shut down. After much frustration I just tried odd streets until I found a great spot a block off the waterfront on the west side of town.
The harbor is extremely picturesque and the walk along the waterfront is enjoyable with all the cafes and fishing boats.
We read about the Calanque Provencal Fiords and took one of their boats out to visit 5 of the fiords. Nice boat ride and interesting geology.
A busy tourist location but worth the effort.

“Beautiful Cassis, France”
Reviewed October 14, 2009

My wife and I visited Cassis, France on the Mediterranean coast of France, on our honeymoon. Cassis makes a wonderful part of a vacation to France if you would like to have a few days in which to enjoy the culture and food of France while relaxing a bit more than you would at other points in your trip. Cassis' attractions include the quiet beaches, the bay's marina, and beautiful sun. Whereas Nice is a fairly bustling city, Cassis is sleepier, a great place to slow down for a while.

“Breathtakingly beautiful”
Reviewed April 18, 2009

I stayed in Cassis for 4 days in may 2007 with my sister and can highly recommend it for a few days or a longer holiday. We stayed in a beautiful 1930s villa which has 4 guestrooms called L escale a cassis and sits on the shore with spectacular views to cap canaille. This was a wonderful place to stay, the rooms and terraces and gardens are gorgeous(checkout the website) and only 5 mins walk to a little beach. The lady who runs Lescale Valerie was really kind and friendly and made us feel so welcome, even phoning to sort out a taxi and train shuttle back to marseille airport, avery easy journey Cassis is such apretty place with beautiful coastal walks to the calanques which we also visited by boat from the port. This is the best way to really appreciate these stunning cliffs, theyre incredibly beautiful. There are two large beaches in Cassis and the little harbour is a lovely place to stop for a coffee and watch the comings and goings. There are plenty of interessting shops, gorgeous boutiques, craft shops and homewares to satisfy even the most ardent shopper and loads of quality restaurants and cafes for all budgets. Another pleasant way to spend some time is to take the little tourist train which runs around the back of the town and out to the calanques. Ithink the cost was around 6 euros and 14 euros for the boat trip. Anyway we had a wonderful time in Cassis and if you enjoy lovely weather, fabulous scenery, walking, sun and sand, great food and wine and want to try somewhere a bit special youll love Cassis but seriously only share with your best friends because it is so gorgeous and i love the fact that the hoardes still head elsewhere and leave this little provencal treasure to those of us that truly appreciate it!

“Most beautiful place on the Côte d'Azur”
Reviewed March 30, 2009

The town of Cassis is cute and simple but the best part is it's hiking trails into the Calanques. This is some serious hiking but it leads to the best views and the best beaches. The boat tours are great for older people and families but if you're fit and willing, hiking is the way to see it all. There is a secluded hostel with a great view named La Fontasse but be forewarned that it is at least a 50 minute hike from town mostly uphill. Electricity and water are rationed because of its location and there are no showers. You must bring your own food but there is a huge kitchen and plenty of kitchenware to cook with. This hostel is the most pleasant place I've ever stayed and it is in prime location to other hiking trails.
