“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2012

This hotel is now called Le Cassiden (not Le Provencal). We stayed one night. The room was very small but modern and a great location. Our room, 6, faced the street with a strained view of the port. It was clean, modern/updated. There was a TV in the room (we didn't use it) and a/c, and the room was surprisingly quiet even though it faced the street.

We took the complete breakfast. It was fine but I would not recommend it. For 7 Euro per person we could have done better at the small grocery store right across the street.

Another not, although not specifically related to this property, getting a taxi in Cassis on a Sunday is nearly impossible. Plan ahead.

This hotel is now called Le Cassiden (not Le Provencal). Some reviews on TripAdvisor and bookings.com mentioned construction noises, but the construction must be finished since we heard none even during weekdays. We had newly renovated a small double (room 1). It was very quiet even though it's right next to the reception. The new renovations are very well done in a clean style (a vast improvement over the old photos shown here). Although the room is indeed very small, it's well laid out so that we could move around and spread our luggage easily. The only slight issue is that the shower, while excellent, has the trendy design with only half a glass pane and no shower curtain. This really splattered water onto the bathroom floor.

The hotel is just steps away from the harbour. We feel it is great value for its room and its location.

Room Tip: We were in room 1, a small double facing away from the street. It was very quiet. All rooms now have...

The staff here are very helpful and kind and did provide at least some fruit with the typical continental breakfast and we slept soundly in a reasonably quiet room at the back of the hotel. I would request such a room if available because the front faces a very noisy busy street. Trying to park near here was another matter because the street was blocked off and we had to park up a steep hill several blocks away. There is no elevator so you will have to carry bags up the stairs and the light to go up the stairs was not always on so take care when walking up at night. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this hotel for its convenient location and its very polite staff. Though they manage some English, it helps to know a little French.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms toward the back away from the front which faces a busy and noisy street

My husband and I stayed at Le Provencal Hotel for 2 nights in September. The hotel was just perfect. Very friendly and helpful staff. Even though they did not speak English, they were so very kind. Our room was off the main street so it was nice a quiet. Very basic but it had a fridge (bonus!). The bed was very comfortable and our room was cleaned every day.

One warning though, there is no lift, only stairs, so if you have large bags, be prepared to break a sweat!

We will definitely return!

This is a great deal of a hotel in a charming town in France. We spent two nights in Cassis at Le Provencal and loved it. There is nothing fancy about the hotel but its clean, comfortable and oh so French. There were charming wood shutters on the windows that overlook the streets below. The room was quiet at night. The staff was very nice, they don't speak a lot of English, so if you know some French that will probably be helpful for you. We did not have breakfast from the hotel, but they'll deliver it to your room for another $5 Euro/person I think. Our room had a small desk which was also nice. Make sure you get a shower room and not a tub room. That was our only mistake as the tub rooms just have a bathtub with handheld shower.

Room Tip: Tub rooms mean tub only, not a true shower.

I stayed here last Easter and was delighted with my stay. The location couldn't be better! The hotel is right by the harbor and centreville and seconds from a small beach. (There are larger, more private beeches farther away.) I stayed in a double room with parents with an added bed for me. Since I'm an adult, I was a little dubious when the hostess told me that she would add a cot to accommodate me. It turned out to be a comfortable single bed and there was plenty of room for the three of us.

The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. It was Easter weekend and the hotel was fully booked but still they never seemed too rushed. They helped us with the bus schedule, recommended restaurants and day trips, lent us a corkscrew and wine glasses. All of the staff I met spoke English well enough to communicate with my monolingual parents.

It's not a fancy place but for a nice trip to the beach, it's all you need. I gladly recommend it.

Room Tip: Book well in advance! It fills up fast starting in the spring.
