The Dorn
Ranked #10 of 22 Cassis B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 20, 2014

The Dorn is gracious and charming - just like its owner, Anne L'Amie. The ensuite rooms are large, comfortable and well-thought out. Plenty of space to hang clothes, tea and coffee making facilities and your own terrace with table and chairs. The house has all modern amenities but is decorated with lovingly cared-for antiques. In good weather, breakfast is served on the terrace which must enjoy one of the best views in Cassis, overlooking the sea and the Cap Canaille. Fresh fruit salad, home made yoghurt and jams, croissants, bread - all beautifully served. Anne will make suggestions for places to visit, activities to enjoy or restaurants to eat. You will not find a better host! Her native language is French but she speaks superb English. And all of this on the doorstep of the wonderful Mediterranean town of Cassis and the spectacular Calanques - excellent for walking or visiting by boat.

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay at The Dorn in Cassis. Our hostess, Anne, is charming, warm and gracious. We thoroughly enjoyed our lovely morning breakfast on her beautiful veranda, with its views of the ocean. Our room was large and airy and completely comfortable. Her pretty home is a 15 minute walk from the old town (plenty of hills to burn off those croissants) and on the path to the stunning Calanques. We would stay at the Dorn again most happily on our next trip to Cassis.

We most enjoy the people we meet on holiday and Mme Anne was a highlight of our holiday. We enjoyed everything about the B & B, spacious room, great bathroom, quiet area in a gorgeous location. Walk to the Calanques from the home. Breakfast was just right, croissants, jams, yogurt, fruit, coffee. Thank you so much for a wonderful time at your lovely B & B!!

We have never enjoyed more pleasant accommodation, or a more wonderful hostess, than at The Dorn, Cassis.

Mme L'Amie gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our room, which was very large, and had an equally large, modern ensuite. The room was well-equipped for travellers with cupboards and hanging space, and included an electric kettle, cups and tea and coffee. A sliding door opened on to a private terrace with chairs and a table and glimpses of the beautiful bay.

Breakfast each morning is served on the terrace (in good weather, which we were fortunate to enjoy) with gorgeous views over the bay of Cassis. Breakfast included a delicious fruit salad and breads accompanied by Mme L'Amie's fabulous homemade jams. Tea, coffee and juice were also served.

The Dorn is located on the eastern side of the bay, less than 5 mins walk from the beginning of the Les Calanques trails, one of the major attractions of the area. In less than 5 mins one can also access the rocks along the edge of the bay, probably perfect for swimming in summer (a bit chilly in April!). We had a car and drove in to the township to eat, but this would be approximately a 15min walk if you didn't have a car, or if parking was a problem (which I expect it would be in summer).

Mme L'Amie was more than happy to provide suggestions on what to do in the local area, and advice on where to eat. We followed all of her suggestions and had an extremely enjoyable visit to Cassis. We will be recommending The Dorn to all of our family and friends, and can't rate it highly enough. We hope to return soon.

The Dorn is undoubtedly a great find in Cassis! Relaxed atmosphere, lovely rooms, fabulous continental breakfasts with breathtaking views - what more can we say! Anne the host, really makes this B&B special, friendly welcome & happy to share all her local knowledge, brilliant!

Perfectly located for walking both to the Calanques & to the beach & port. Cassis is stunning & has retained it's authenticity. We also recommend Chez Gilbert restaurant on the port, great service & delcious dinner.

The Dorn has a gorgeous view from the patio where breakfast is served, looking over the ocean. It is located just a short walk from the port (about 10-15 minutes). Anne, the host, is wonderful and sweet, and made us feel right at home.
