we stayed here as a stopover between roscoff & biarritz in mid june. easy to find just of the motorway into saintes. lovely relaxing place after a long drive, beautiful grounds & staff very friendly. rooms have themes, ???? bit quirky but nothing wrong with them.
my only drawback was the food & drink menu was quite pricey...cheapest bottle of wine was 39 euros..... gourmet menu very pricey, approx 100 euro a head. we had the 3 course set for 30 euro which was nice but nothing exceptional.
overall a very nice place to stay but left a bigger dent in my credit card than expected.

This hotel is situated just off the motorway and is ideal for an over night stop. Indeed it would be a good choice for a little longer stop if you want to explore this area. Saintes is well worth a visit. The hotel is actually situated just outside Saintes which is about a five minute drive away.
The hotel is situated in splendid grounds including two lakes. It has a good indoor swimming pool. Our room was on the small side but more than adequate for one night. It had interesting decor.
Dinner was very good we were on the bistro menu which had more than adequate choice. The dining room is situated overlooking some of the extensive hotel grounds including views of the two lakes. Breakfast was OK but on the pricey side. The most expensive on our over two week trip to France

Unusually exceptional service from the lovely Florence on reception to the excellent restaurant staff who accommodated our every request. We had our Chihuahua with us and nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble. We arrived after the kitchen had closed without a booking, and did not expect much in the way of food. We were wrong, we were extended every courtesy and we ate and drank one of the nicest meals that we have had for a long time in a lovely atmosphere and in a fantastic setting. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. This is how a hotel should be run...............Thank you

I have stayed at this hotel now on four occasions – which is a good recommendation in itself.

If you’re heading south through France towards Spain, it’s very easy to get to, being just a few kilometres off the motorway.

From outside it doesn’t seem promising as it’s in quite a busy part of town. But the minute you drive through the gate you enter a haven of tranquillity.

Many of the rooms are themed. There is an “ice room”, and another based on being in a submarine. On previous visits with children, these rooms have provided great entertainment. On this occasion we stayed in a pretty normal-looking room, but it had a great terrace overlooking the lake and gardens.

There is also an excellent indoor swimming pool which never seems to be busy. And there is free wi-fi (as should be the case in every quality hotel).

It’s true (as other reviewers have mentioned) that you can spend a great deal on their a-la-carte menu. But you can also ask for the “bistro menu” which offers a good selection at very competitive prices. Same table, same service – just a whole lot cheaper.

I look forward to my fifth visit in the not-too-distant future.

Room Tip: If traveling with children, ask for one of the themed rooms.

We stayed one night in May 2012. A really lovely spot with a nice room, terrace and a beatufil parkland feeling with ducks and swans. It was really relaxing and a great stop off point, a treat with a lovely pool as well. Dinner was good but I think maybe not quite as good as they think they are. Overall a really good place to stay, a little pricey odd quirky bathroom but if the weather is nice the surroundings are really good.

Room Tip: Rooms with a terrace have two large beds and offer a really nice place to stay.

We stayed two nights in May 2012. We booked a cot for the room and they provided a baby bath and changing mat too. We requested a ground floor room with patio so we could enjoy the evening after our baby had gone to bed - this worked out perfectly and we had room service on the patio (which tasted lovely - the food, not the patio). The buildings are old and full of character and they are very well soundproofed so no-one got disturbed by a crying baby and we didn't get disturbed by revellers. The setting is beautiful, a walk round the grounds includes a lake full of ducks, turtles and swans, rose gardens, chickens, a small field and lots of nooks and crannies with tables and chairs. There's a great indoor swimming pool which we had to ourselves, as it wasn't high season. We will be back (that's a promise!).

Room Tip: There are no lifts.

Beautiful natural surroundings. The hotel is on it's own beautiful manicured grounds with ponds, trees, swans and ducks.. Great for a pre dinner stroll. The restaurant food is good though the tasting menu is very pricey. The rooms are themed with comfortable beds.. The only let down are the bathrooms which have been overlooked in the latest refurb or waiting to be done. The bathroom and tilling were circa 1986, not old enough to be chic but just getting to the shabby. Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were friendly. Know your French if you want TV. Free wifi was quite good. The inclusive breakfast was mini croissants etc. and cold cuts.
