The Saintes Ibis is conveniently situated close to, but out of earshot of, the autoroute. The room was clean and didn't reek of earlier generations of smokers, hastily masked by air freshener, like so many French chain hotel rooms. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well (unlike some of the other hotels we stayed in). The meal in the restaurant was fine, but the English translation of the menu was laughable. Why multi-million Euro hotel chains can't employ the services of a professional translator, I really don't know. The room key needed to be pushed firmly into the lock to work and, had this been made clear, it would have saved a trek back to reception only to be told 'the room key needs to be pushed firmly into the lock to work'. Minor annoyances with the menu and the room key aside, the Ibis was clean, quiet and comfortable and we would be happy to stay again. Recommended.
