“Good location in the centre of Saint Quentin”

We needed an overnight stay on the way from the Channel Tunnel to Alsace and found this one via a bookings website. We stayed in one of the newer rooms in a small courtyard at the back of the hotel. The room was lovely and very comfortable and we were able to park our car directly outside our door.

In the evening we had a lovely meal at one of the cafe/restaurants in the main square.

Breakfast was simple but plentiful and very reasonably priced. If we ever need another overnight stay Le Florence will certainly get our custom again.

The car park was a bit of a squeeze but we found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful on our arrival. However, as we entered our designated room, the stench of stale cigarettes met us full-blast. We couldn't have spent an hour in there, let alone all night. When we spoke to the receptionist about it, she said that it was against the law for French hotels to designate rooms 'Non Smoking' (though we'd just come from a hotel in Reims which was just that). She gave us the key to another room which mercifully smelt fresh. The hotel was quiet despite it's central location, convenient for visiting the Basilica (well worth it) and within easy reach of several good restaurants. No aircon but fully-opening windows. The breakfast was the usual buffet, rather on the basic side but excellent croissants. We'll be in St Quentin again next year but we won't be staying at Le Florence because we'd rather be confident of being allocated a clean room . If they'd had full occupancy at that point, we'd have had to go elsewhere and at such short notice, that could have proved difficult. A pity.

Room Tip: Ask for one that hasn't been smoked in, unless you're a smoker of course.

We were looking for an overnight stop about 2-3 hours from Calais on our way to Burgundy and my wife found this lovely little hotel right in the centre of Saint Quentin. What attracted us was the secure car park as we had bicycles on the back of the car. Also at just over 50 euros a night (plus 8 euros each for a very good breakfast) it was a low cost option. The hotel has some new rooms built around the courtyard at the back of the hotel but we were in the main part of the hotel, which is an old building. But the room was a reasonable size with a good on suite with walk-in shower and we both slept well.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and spoke good english. They supplied us with an adaptor as we had lost ours (it turned up later) and gave recommendations for places to eat, and supplied us with a voucher to get a 10% discount on the bill at the main bistro on the square, which was only 2 minutes walk away.

All in all great value and great service, a fantastic overnight stop but worth considering for a longer stay if you want to explore the area.

Room Tip: I believe the courtyard rooms are a higher spec

Have stayed here a number of times on our way through France in both the rear courtyard rooms and the main hotel and have always been satisfied. All the rooms have been clean, comfortable and pleasantly decorated. Staff are always welcoming and helpful. The hotel has secure free parking and is well situated for walking up to the town square where there are numurous bars and restaurants making it, for us, a much better choice than one of the similar priced chains usually found on the outskirts of town.

There can be some street noise in rooms at the front of the hotel but not excessive given the town centre location. Overall we have found the Florence to offer good quality at a fair price.

We used this hotel on a stopover for one night on our way to the south of France.  We had a quad room with two huge king size beds in one of the refurbished rooms over-looking the car park.  The car park is tight but seemed very secure as it is over-looked by bedrooms and the gate is shut each night.  The Reception is manned so there is no issue with having to get a door code if you turn up after 6pm.  The continental breakfast was extensive and the service was very friendly and it set us up for our long drive south.  In summary, it was an ideal place for our needs

Stayed here on our way back to Calais from near the Loire for one night, welcoming and friendly staff with efficient service. Clean rooms with mod cons, the only fault would be slightly dated decor. Ideal location for the centre of the town with secure parking.

We stayed here for 3 nights when our car broke down just outside St Quentin. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was spacious and in the courtyard so no noise. The location is great with plenty of restaurants near by. A good hotel to stop at to break a long journey
