On our outward journey we had a room on the 2nd floor which was adequate. Our friends also had rooms on the 2nd floor, but told us these were very small. On our return visit we were given a room on the 5th floor which appeared to be an executive room. Apart from the size, the 5th floor room was quieter as was on the side rather than the front which overlooked a road, but each provided a good night's sleep.
All the rooms were spotlessly clean.
Down sides were that there was no hairdryer nor tea and coffee making facilities. The lack of a hairdryer was the most important negative.
Breakfast was a continental buffet, of which there was a good selection, but the restaurant area was very small and could have done with more tables in a larger area. However, the hotel was ideal as a stopover.
The location was excellent as it was just around the corner from the main square with an excellent choice of eateries and bars, all typically french. No Burger Kings here yet!!!!

Room Tip: Fifth floor appeared to have the larger and quieter rooms.

We spent two separate nights at the Ibis, on our way to and from a river cruise on the Rhine, Moselle and Main.

Opposite the stunning basilica is the rather less imposing hotel. All the rooms, including the reception area/breakfast cafe, are 'cosy', but it is clean and convenient.

Do have a look round the town, including the Saturday market - well worthwhile!

Friendly service and the rooms in the renovated old building above the ibis standard in the new part. Unfortunately no private parking but public parking area directly at the hotel. Sometimes a bit noisy at night from the bus station at the hotel. Very close to pedestrian zone with shopping and dining.

I stay in Ibis hotels now and then on business and so thought this would be ok as a stop-over on the way back to England. I was very disappointed.

Car parking is opposite on the square. This is pay and display, but free overnight with the spare payment rolling over into the morning, so that was fine.

Check-in was mainly in French, though some English helped. Our room was small with 2 single beds and the air conditioning didn’t blow any air out at all. They immediately changed our room for a larger, nicer room with a double bed. We set the air-conditioner and went out for dinner.

Dinner in the square behind is another story, but represents our brief stay in Saint Quentin...

On return, we knew for sure that the air conditioner was just blowing ambient air, so we opened the windows and watched the Olympic opening ceremony on TV. However, we could not leave the windows open at night due to the road noise and the party noises coming from the town. To get to sleep I shut the windows and opened them again after a few hours and the party noises had settled down. We were woken by the busses idling at the bus stop under our window early the next morning. Neither of us has slept well due to the heat, the noise, and let’s not forget the rock hard mattresses.

Breakfast was expensive at EUR 9 each and decidedly not worth it. Some cold ham, and a selection of starchy sugary stuff we didn’t fancy alongside some yoghurts. This was the most we had paid for breakfast in 2 weeks holiday, and certainly the worst value.

I mentioned the air-conditioning problems on check out. They said they would investigate. I’ve also made a formal complaint.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs.

We stayed one night in a room with 3 beds. Room was very clean and comfortable but unfortunately we did have quit a lot of noise from the room. I would suggest getting a room on 1st or 2nd floor away from the road. Breakfast was basic but very good.

Room Tip: get room at the back away from street

I regularly travel from France to the UK. Staying at Hotels near Reims ... about half way for me. This was better than the Reims or Laon Ibis. Great location and interesting location. Will book again there. Not an out of town industrial estate ..... GREAT value.
