“another pleasant suprise in France”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 12, 2011

On a shopping trip inFrance we stopped for 1 night here in Calais , what a lovely warm and relaxing place to stay , after the long day walking our socks off ! Yhe ambience and very French shabby - chique quality to the genuine french town house , warmed you to the many amenities availble in and around the vicinity . Not for us to jump in the car to find somewhere to eat and late night shopping ! All was here, and a short walk away . Being winter time all the town and streets were ablaze with decorations , the house overlooking a park was also ideal for free parking , rare for being so close to town .
The amenities in the house were more than expected , as said the decor matched the warmth of the rooms , coupled with the well sized bathroom , shower and bath were available for that luxury on ones holiday , and a magnifying mirror for the men , as was plenty of storage space , as the floors are let on a complete tariff .
The tray of condiments are available , many different types of tea , coffee and complimentary biscuits were on the tray , everything is supplied to make your eventual stay very comfortable indeed
The lady of the house made herself welcome to your needs and the breakfast was very sumptuous to begin the day , criossants , jams ,fresh breads , baked apple , cereals ,choice of milks , ham , cheeses and freshly made tea and coffee . All in with the price of an overnight stay too , was the genuine hospitality from the lady of the house , when you stay , you will have been to a place where your requirements are met with kindness too
In the days of old cash was the only payment system , therefore expect nothing has changed in the old fashioned way , coupled with a touch of class at the Chambres d,hotes du Parc.
regards Ken Bainbridge

Room Tip: Being in an older house the Loft requires negotiating more stairs , all look out on the park as room...

When travelling by car from France to UK we wanted to stay one night in Calais and took a ferry to Dover early in the next morning. We were 3 adults, family members though, and wanted to get a large room with 3 beds instead of two rooms. Situated at a large park on a peaceful street this nice family driven guest house is quite near to the harbor of Calais, only 15 minutes by car. For evenings there are some restaurants at walking distance.
Our loft suite consisted of a living room with TV and comfortable leather sofa, and one bedroom with a good double bed and two quite simple single beds. This flat was on the top of the house, 3rd or 4th floor, and there were no lift . It was not a problem for us because we could leave our luggage in the car and were able to step up lots of stairs. There are some nice room which are not so high up. Parking area was just outside this guest house on the park side and it was free of charge.
Our "suite" included a large modern shower cabin, and there was a beautiful view over the roofs from our living room. The interior was decorated in "shabby chic" style and with handmade textiles, very home-like. We forgot to ask them to put on wifi, and it was not working automatically in the night, at least we could not use it. We also forgot to ask for teacups, and could not use the available water cooker and teabags during the evening.
The breakfast was included to the room price and served in a beautiful dinging room downstairs. We liked healthy newly baked breads, good cheeses and ham and lovely yogurt., juice and coffee/tea.
When leaving the house I saw a beautiful large room on the second floor, and attach a photo of it here. I suppose it was a family room, too, for more than 2 persons.
The best of all the visit was The Madame herself, very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.
If you are looking for a clean and nice budget accommodation with good breakfast , this could be one choice. Be prepared to pay cash, because they don't take credit cards.
If you are allergic, there was both a dog and a cat, which belonged to the guest house.
