“Real French food at reasonable prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

Several fixed price menus gave lots of choices--we opted for the 28 euro which was excellent value. The two staff looked after the full restaurant in a friendly and efficient way. Generous portions, well cooked. Well worth a visit!

“Bon appetit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

On our last night in France we wanted to enjoy a truly French meal & certainly were not disappointed in its content. We thoroughly enjoyed our Confit de Canard, in fact probably the best we have experienced ( and that is many! ). We enjoyed all of our selected menu & our choices of wine were A1. The only down part of our meal was certainly not due to any feature contributed to by the restaurant. This was the second meal within a week that was marred by the loud conversations being conducted from adjoining tables by diners who only had met per chance in the restaurant & commenced a voluminous discussion one trying to out shine the other. It appears to be a Home Counties "thing" that conversations are to be heard by all in sundry. A real spoiler to others dining experience. We certainly hope to return to this establishment when next in France.

“French style resturant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

The resturant was very busy but the service was still good. I had the Mussel Soup with a puff pastry which was outstanding...The house wine was very good and only 13.5 euro per bottle. We were a party of four and everybody agreed it was a very good meal on the fixed price menue of 20 euro each

“Unexpectedly Good”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2013

Hadn't been here for years and wasn't expecting great things as it was previously known as 1900 and used to be a very good high quality gourmet treat. Very pleased to find that it is every bit as good as it's predecessor.

Fantastic variety of meats and fish on the menu which is inventive and imaginative making the most of local produce. There is also a superb deserts and cheese selection. I would suggest pre-booking as it gets full very quickly.

“Good value for what you pay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 29, 2013

Went there as recommended by French customers. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced, was not dissappointed. Where in England would you pay 28 euros including oysters for 4 course dinner!!!
I agree with lack of ambience but then we went there on a Monday evening so did not expect all the jazz besides we are a couple enjoying a nice meal..
