The new Spring season formules are quite stunning. The photo of the beef entree of the 31€ choice shows the extreme delicacy and beauty of the creation. My amouse bouche was delicious as was the first course of a lightly panfried crab pancake with asparagus tips and a warm coddled egg. The chariots of fromage and desserts were, as ever, comprehensive and tantalising. Two half bottles of Saumur and Cotes de Bourg were spot on and priced competitively. If there was a restaurant of comparable price/performance in London I'd certainly become a regular.

We found the restaurant following a trip to Paris, the Historic finishes Lunch at 2pm So decided to find our second choice. The set lunch is excellent value , either a 3 or 4 course including Cheese.. Good selection of wine again very reasonable prices, pity we had to catch the Ferry.

It is in its second generation , two sons run the venue one in the kitchen and the other front of house , .

If anywhere around Calais make the trip !

Would get full 5 stars but only one table occupied on our visit

Looked out of the window and noticed Timothy Spall dragging a trolley of baguetts !

We had lunch yesterday in Le Channel. It was very good.We had the 31euro menu which had good choice and we had 4small plates.Service was excellent and the ambiance was very pleasant. Our only criticism was the cost of a small glass of wine which was 11euros which we felt was very expensive. All in all though good.

We hadn't booked but the welcome was amazing. We chose the 31euro 4 course menu which offered a wide selection of dishes. The additional Amuse Bouche consisted of 3 exquisite delicacies - an extra course! My starter of fruits de mare was amazing and a meal in itself, followed by fantastic scallop risotto then cheese followed by desserts from the 'chariots' coffee and petit four. My wife's choices though different were equally good. The bill, including a bottle of Provence Rose and a glass of Bordeaux came to 104euros - amazing value!
