The Engineer in me can't help but wonder at the engineering required to, not only build a cathedral, but to then go back and make it taller and longer. There was some clever and patient people back in the day. This is am amazing building to go into.

There is also tours of the tower but we missed it as there is only one per day during Oct-March.

The evening light show was amazing. It is held from April to September and in December. The audio is only in French, but the colours of the illumination are vibrant and stunning. It is amazing to see a "plain" stone building come alive with such amazing colours. We are really gald we were fortunate enough to catch the last show for the season.

The light show was really fun (if a bit long) and the cathedral is wonderful. Try to fit this in your schedule.

This Cathedral set in a lovlely square surrounded by some really nice cafes is a must see. The Cathedral has some great sculptures and tells the tale of the beheading of St john the baptist. Not only does it tell the tale , the cathedral also displays the head of John the Baptist mounted in a jewell encrusted platter! Truely remarkable. The statue of the weeping angel is worth a look.

The light show of a summer evening is spectacular.

Visit the Cathedral, if you do nothing else. It is simply magnificent. Also try to catch the evening light show - it brings the place alive.

The carvings on the facade of Amiens cathedral were once painted in vivid colours, but with the passage of time, the paintwork has been eroded away. During the summer evenings and at Christmas time, a spectacular laser light show illuminates the facade of the Cathedral, re-creating the original colours. It is accompanied by a commentary and a beautiful musical sound track and is an experience not to be missed!
