We settled into our table at this very pretty spot on the canal in Amiens with great anticipation of any enjoyable final night in Europe! After some time a waiter approached and left us with menus and then dissapeared for 10 minutes despite us looking to order drinks. There were a number of staff obvious but none seemed to be interested in what we were after? We eventually ordered drinks and meals and whilst the food was satisfactory, the edge had been taken off the evening due to the poor attitude of the staff. They really need to better expolit their great location by giving their customers some real attention!

It is difficult to say anything bad about the restaurant as it was ver average. Average service average food and average price. Fantastic location though.

The location of Karamel is great, directly on the canal and the service was good too, staff very friendly and efficient. The food, whilst cooked well, was quite boring in flavours, nothing particularly noteworthy. My husband had what was described as chicken with Szechuan pepper but there was no hint of pepper at all which I think is due to the French dislike for anything with too much chilli. I ordered the Lamb Tagine and whilst the meat was tender, no exciting flavours were to be had. The Chocolate Fondant was quite yummy though.

The Gourmet Starter was a very less than inspiring mix of Indian samoosa, spring roll and tandoori chicken. The bread was not entirely fresh. Was that the second time my tuna steak was cooked? Accompanied by rice with hard, congealed bits. I should have sent it back. Pleasant staff. Situated in the centre of the Amiens main tourist trap restaurant street. I should have known better. €36 for one, including half a bottle of wine. (I liked the wine.) Poor value.
