We stayed at Les Bessardieres in late July. The area is beautiful and the views from the upstairs living room were wonderful. The farmhouse has been restored and offers plenty of space for a family. We were lucky with the weather so we were able to eat outside on many occasions. The kitchen had plenty of equipment but was lacking in cupboard space for storing food. That said we were only staying for a week so it wasn't such a huge problem. It is a get away from it all kind of place so don't expect wifi/TV etc. Our children coped with just the DVD player for a week and because the weather was good we were busy. My daughter loved the cows coming past the garden every day, even though the local farmer probably thought we were completely mad taking photos every day! The location is good for Vire, Granville and the D Day landing beaches. We also enjoyed visiting Bayeux and a huge hit with the kids was the Viaduct de L;Sourdeval.
We really enjoyed staying in the restored farmhouse situated in the rolling Normandy countryside on the edge of a small hamlet. The farmhouse was well equipped with plenty of space. There is a log burning stove set in a magnificent fireplace which was very cosy in the cool April evenings.
There is a small village, Campeaux, a very short drive away which has a small shop and the all important boulangerie for daily fresh bread. The nearest supermarkets are in Vire which is about 20 minutes away.
We found some good walks in the area along the quiet country lanes. The Viaduc de la Souleuvre close by is a great picnic spot particularly if you are adventurous and like bungee jumping or zip wires. The coast is within a reasonable drive and we had a great day out at Mont St Michel.
