We booked two rooms at the Hotel de la Digue just outside the Mont St. Michel in Normandy, France, through Hotels.com. There weren't a lot of choices for the area, but it looked pretty nice online. We were traveling around France by car and wanted to spend a night near the Mont St. Michel. We were unable to get a room at a hotel within Mont St. Michel this particular weekend.
When we arrived, our rooms were not ready, so we left our baggage in the car and drove to the Mont St. Michel for a few hours of sightseeing. When we returned, our rooms were ready. We had no problems checking in.
This hotel appears to be in 2 sections, possibly an original hotel plus a takeover of the establishment that was directly next door in the same building. I can't be sure, and I didn't ask. We were given 2 rooms side by side in what seemed to be the taken over side. The decor was different and had a separate entrance from the side where the lobby and restaurant were. I don't think the two sides of the hotel were connected, we had to walk outside to get to the lobby and restaurant.
We had rooms 53 and 54. The rooms were clean and presentable, carpet and decor were a bit outdated, but not an issue. These rooms were also extremely large for a European hotel. One of our rooms had 4 beds, 2 twins pushed together a twin on its own and a roll away. Our second room had two beds. Both rooms offered spacious bathrooms, desks, telephones and TV, although channel choices were very limited. We were exhausted and the beds afforded a good night's sleep.
We would probably stay at this hotel again if we were to visit the Mont St Michel and wanted to stay close by. We would not, however, eat at the hotel restaurant again. We absolutely love French food and this restaurant was a major disappointment. The food was overpriced, way too 'fancy', not too tasty, and the restaurant staff were not overly welcoming, accommodating, or friendly. I would highly recommend that you stay away from the restaurant.
Overall, the Hotel de la Digue was a good choice.
**I must apologize for the unmade beds in my photos. I didn't have a chance to take room photos until the morning of our departure.
