“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed July 24, 2012

Great location at reasonable price. Room was basic but clean. Hotel is located near the shuttle bus stop and also within walking distance to Mont Saint Michel. Also near a few other restaurants and a local supermarket. View from hotel is spectacular. We also had a very nice meal at the restaurant of the hotel.

The staff was very friendly and helpful (although they did not tell us about the shuttle to the castle when we checked in). We left an iPad connector in the room.We contacted the hotel and they found it and mailed it home to us.

Last time I was at Mont St Michel we were able to stay on the island, so I was disappointed that there were no rooms available when we tried booking for our most recent trip. We settled on this hotel though and were not disappointed. This is one of the closest hotels to the Mont without actually being there. They have recently changed the entire system as to how one parks and gets to the island which was a little confusing, but we had no trouble getting through the gate. It is nice to park at the hotel (instead of in the new parking lot) and the shuttle bus stops right across the street to take you to the base of the Mont. The views at night were lovely from this distance. Across the street is a grocery store and a Brioche Doree which is a cheaper alternative for breakfast. Our room was great for the price. We noticed that they take in large tour groups, but they were not noisy. Overall, a wonderful stay!!!

As per reviews below the village is now gated. Little bit of confusion finding the gate but the code was emailed to me the night before. Entered the code and away we went. Rooms are spacious and the staff were very helpful. The wifi is terrible which is a factor for me as I use it a lot. Was designed to cut out every 5 minutes. Very frustrating. Apart from that the hotel is very good value in a prime position. We walked to the Abbey early and took courtesy bus back. Go in morning or afternoon because by 11:00 am the bus loads are there. Breakfast was. Bit basic but the restaurant meal that night was very very good. All,in all a good venue.

From the last review, we knew the hotel was in a gated zone, but had a bit of trouble finding how to get there and then our code to open the gate did not work. Someone did eventually open it for us. The rooms at this hotel are just ok, with red carpet, 80's furniture and a tv that is in a wall which you cannot rotate or adjust the picture quality (why?). The worst part about this hotel is the "no air conditioning". We too left our balcony door open to get some fresh air, but in the summer when it gets really hot, I would not want to be here.

The shuttle to Mont St. Michel is across the street, comes every 5 min and takes you to the bottom of the entrance.

The best thing about staying here is the restaurant. We had our dinner as well as breakfast here and it was delicious. No one mentioned to us the demi-pension option to us, but we asked for it based on the last review and it was worth it.

Room Tip: If you need air conditioning, do not stay here...rooms get very hot.

This hotel is located inside the new-gated zone at the start of the causeway leading to the Mont. You can walk to the Mont (about 1km) or take one of the shuttles that run continuously along the causeway. We had a balcony room which does allow a view of the Mont if you crane your neck, otherwise it affords a view of the river and farm fields adjacent to the Mont. The rooms have been updated and are bright, clean and generally well-appointed, although closet space is minimal. The adjacent restaurant is very good and we would recommend the demi-pension which provides both breakfast and dinner. The dinner menu offers several local dishes and the quality of preparation and presentation is high. Service is very good and we would highly recommend le Relais, except for one thing: the room was very hot with no ventilation or air conditioning. We opened the balcony door in the night and that provided some cooling benefits. Recommendation: visit in the low season to avoid crowds at the Mont and to minimize suffering in the hot room.

Room Tip: Since you will likely have to open a window at night to stay cool, get a room overlloking the river...

This was the most expensive hotel of our trip and will survive on its location irrespective of these reviews. I liked it and you won't be disappointed. Restaurant was a bit stuffy and service slow, WiFi not us good as others but overall very nice. We ate breakfast across the road at the supermarket as €10 here.

Staff very friendly. Comfortable clean room. Had a nice fish dinner in restaurant. Peaceful town; nice getaway from busy Paris. Beautiful views from back of the hotel. My room faced the front of the hotel but it is still quiet. Hotel is close to supermarket to grab a snack or a beer. Good breakfast at hotel. Bus service to train station very good. I would reccomend hotel.
