We had checked in here for a one day visit to Mont-St-Michel Abbey. It was a mid-budget hotel, so I was expecting a smallish but clean room. Boy, was I surprised! The room was large and comfortable. It actually had three beds (one double bed and a single bed for a third person). I can safely say this is the largest room I have stayed in Europe at this budget. The staff was extremely helpful and cheerful They all speak good English, as this place sees a lot of tourists. The staff helped us with all our little queries (which way to the Abbey, where does the bus for Rennes stop etc. etc.). There's a bar and restaurant at this place - Normandy bar, and Le Pre Sale restaurant. Food was quite good there - there's a "tourist menu" which is a three course French meal for 19 euros. The breakfast buffet was lavish.

We stayed here on the 26 Nov 2011. Very nice staff who gave us some local information at check in. the room was spacious and while relaxing, we liked that the tv had english channels, and that there was in-room coffee/tea & kettle. Decor was a bit jarring (red/black striped curtains, wallpaper that had been painted over with orange paint, beige and white washroom). There was a funny residual smell from the cleaning products, but overall things were ok.
Everything functioned, and the bed was fine, but not as comfortable as the mercure hotel we'd stayed in the night before. We chose the hotel primarily for its location, and this paid off. it was easy to get to visit Mont Saint michel the next day. I would recommend walking or cycling to mont st michel from the hotel if you have time.

The hotel is perfect if you don't plan on driving. The bus from the train stops right outside the hotel, and its a easy walking distance to the Mont St Michel.

We had previously stayed at the Mercure in Nice and this is far better. Apparently this is because this Mercure is actually run by Mercure, as opposed to some others where the brand was sold to be managed by someone else. We also had dinner at the restaurant - the service was fantastic.

you can also rent bikes from the hotel (or the sister hotel opposite the road). Its also a great place if you drive to visit St Malo.

Me and my wife stayed for one night and we liked the hotel. The room is confortable and very clean. No elevator. Wi-Fi for free is a plus and the connection inside the room is very good. Car park is free. 20 minutes walking to the Mont if you want some exercise. Good bakery and supermarket in front of the hotel.

Room Tip: If you want to visit a magic place, go to the Mont after 10:00 pm. It is safe and you can see the pl...

Me and my brother went this past week end to the Mont Saint Michel Mercure Hotel (12/11/2011) and we found the girl at the front desk not helpful at all.
I booked for a mistake the wrong night by the time I went there on the 12 but i booked for the 13, and that's my mistake, but i asked the girl, by the time we were going to stay at the hotel and pay anyway that night, to take off the price we already paid by the time it was not refundable and they were going to get the money the next day.
She told me she couldn't do it, but of course she only didn't want to.
So the next day I called bookin.com but the time is the website i booked the hotel through, and the person at the phone was really nice and gentle, he told me he was going to call the hotel and that i could have my money back only if the hotel would accept to cancel the reservation, but of course they didn't..what a surprise!!!!
Anyway she make us pay for that night instead of 117, 109 only 8 euros discount, so we staied there one night have one breackfast for two people (24 euros) and spent a total amount of 200 euros...too much even for mont saint michel!!!
I think a good hotel shouldn't only have nice and clean room and more stars, but also helpful staff when needed.
it's really easy to be kind and gentle to customers when no problems come out....
but this is of course only my personal experience...

Stayed here with my wife for a night in order to visit the Mont Saint Michel in the morning. Arrived very late at night and were very tired, so we weren't bothered by the small room and almost slept in our clothes. The hotel is something like a motel, but adequate in every way if you just need a good nights sleep in a clean, relativiely pleasant environment. Price was 85 Euros, which we found fair and which is why I am giving this property 4 points. The Mont is definitely worth a visit, and the hotel is perfectly located to just wake up, have breakfast (there is a supermarket with a bakery across the street) and walk over the causeway to the island. It takes about 20-30 minutes and you avoid the traffic, the parking mess and the parking fees.

We were there in late September. It had free parking (a plus there). I keep forgetting that "first floor" in Europe, is what 2nd floor would be in the USA. I booked a room on the first floor as I don't do well coming down stairs. but of course had to climb a flight of stairs with luggage as there is no elevator/lift. Our room was smallish but compact. It was immaculately clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was clean and efficient. The water pressure was good; the towels were soft. Our room had a tiny (2 x2') balcony facing the River. If we stepped out and looked directly right, there was the Castle in all its glory.
It was so close. The traffic was horrible because there was a lot of construction going on. It was never explained why. We purposefully arrived on a Saturday afternoon. and the crowds and traffic were horrendous. There was a one-way traffic light for those going towards the Mont. Then a traffic light the other end for traffic coming away from the Mont. Very systamatic. Motorhomes were everwhere. There is plenty of parking in a lot even at the base of the Mt. On Saturday, we bypassed the traffic and walked out there. Hard to get good pictures with hundreds and hundreds of tourists. On Sat evening, we walked to a Restaurant "The Creperie". We were eaten alive with mosquitoes going and coming. The service was basically rude. The food was OK.
On Sunday morning, we got up early and drove down and parked. It was what we came for. The place was almost deserted. The Tide was out. The sun was coming up and shining on the turrets and the whole place had a magical air to it. I was enchanted. We stayed as the sun gradually rose and each 15 minutes seem to give a different view... If you can work it out, be here on a Sunday morning. We drove back and had breakfast. It was buffet style and quite delicious. And could n't stop talking about the sight we had just experiened. Le Mont St. Michel is far and beyond more magnificent than its sister "St. Michael's Mount" in Cornwall, England.

Room Tip: Pay a little ecra to get a room with a "balcony" - such as it is.
